The one release I regularly return to is the I ep, everything good about them condensed into 21 minutes

It's no secret as to why they are so popular they are a very unique band who are also extremely talented musicians. Then on top of that they put on a great live show. The first band I ever came across that released a single song EP and then a single song album on top of that not to mention they have been an influence on so many bands.

Just like later DSO everything after DEI takes time to get into people aren't going to like it on the first one or two listens.

Meshuggah were already very popular long before obZen / Bleed came out. Maybe the lack of shows here for over 20 years is why some still don't get it. Imagine if Ireland had of got shows for the Nothing, Catch 33, obZen & Koloss tours. This is what only the 5th time they played here? Support in 94, Dublin and Belfast at some point for the Violent Sleep tour and then the show back in 2022. In most other countries they would have played shows at least once a year.

Quote from: Halo on November 04, 2026, 08:42:57 AMI did back in 2017, I think it was they first started offering them (2017).

They are basically a hard plastic tour laminate and look like this:

My only one was for Descendents in Brixton Academy so came with a picture of Brixton Academy with Descendents on the marquee and the ticket info on the back, thought it looked shit and to top it off was moved to Kentish Town Forum so they picture was wrong

Google "collector ticket ticketmaster" and you get an idea, I assume the Meshuggah one will have the gig poster (https://www.instagram.com/p/DfRuXxpAQtK/) on it

Ok thanks. Not sure if that's what you get here as they only started offering them here this year and physical tickets for English shows have always been different to what we got here. We aLways had the standard TM design that every few years they would change background colour on blue, green, orange and now it's been white for many years whereas shows I went to in England that were bought through TM  always had a different design each time like having the band logo on the ticket in the correct font.

Personally I would want a ticket over one of those lanyard type things in the picture you posted.

While I agree with the sentiment they're extremely one dimensional and a slog to get through an album as a result, I'm not overly surprised by the 3arena venue. Surely they're one of the most influential metal bands, outside of metal from the last 20 odd years? Between inspiring stuff like the hugely popular doom soundtracks, directly responsible for various subgenres that are popular outside of extreme metal, the aforementioned tiktok success and my own anecdotal experience with non-metalhead friends being familiar with their work, it really is impressive their influence.

I really struggle with Meshuggah . Tried again earlier and I just cant get into them.

I always though they were universally well regarded in the underground metal community here - genuinely surprised to see some of the responses here - dull and one dimensional, such a monotonous band etc.

Its funny how opinions change, I think 10-20 years ago on MI the thoughts on Meshuggah playing here and their material would be very different. I have a vague notion of people constantly asking H if he could get them over (long before the 2 VSOR gigs in 2017) and him saying he couldn't make the numbers work.

I think that first run of 5 albums in the starting half of their career are genuinely groundbreaking (from DEI to Chaosphere to Nothing is as good a 3 album run as anyone's had), and while I do feel they've been playing it far too safe ever since Obzen - they've kept it uncompromisingly heavy and deliver a jaw dropping live performance.

I love Chaosphere and Nothing. Their other albums have some savage tunes but also lots of filler. You could make a great playlist from the better material

If I only ever had the I ep and Catch 33 album I could do without anything else. Everything is covered in those 2. I is brilliant

Destroy Erase Improve is mighty, as is Nothing (the remixed/rerecorded version in particular). Even Contradictions Collapse is worth a go, fairly off-kilter thrash and nothing like what came after but it's certainly interesting. Everything up to and including Obzen is decent but after that it was like flicking a switch for me, now that stuff is dull.

The fact that they are talented musicians doesn't get in the way of the fact that they are boring as hell to listen to. They influenced a style (djent) that fucking sucks. But, as I've said fair play to them. I think it's great to see heavy bands get audiences and do well, so no sour grapes here, but I just marvel at a band so boring to listen to becoming so big. I'm out of touch, baby.

I find it boring too. I just cant get into it. I gave their 33 album but gave up after a few listens. I agree it's great to see metal in 3 arena . Maybe it will click with me someday but I'll skip this I think.

Gave up after Obzen. Have more than enough and at that haven't listened to then since that Vicar St gig whenever that was, same week as Sabbath. I can imagine that the advent of djent soured the buzz but they had run their course for me anyway.

I just stuck on Destroy.Erase.Improve for the first time in ages and checked on here to find this news!

I'm more a fan of the first three to four albums, but I'll take as much Meshuggah as I can get. It's been a few years.

Surprised at all the whingers. Meshuggah is the opposite of boring. Monotone? Yes. But they're an exercise in rhythm and crazy motherfucking noise.

There was a period around June 2022 when they last played here that I listened to them for 8 hours a day.

Kinda disappointed to find out that Korn were playing here this week. I've been playing them a bit lately and had no idea. Was there a big crowd? Raging.
