Primordial demo is definitely up there!, Hexxed Transgression another release that blew me away.
Was a big fan of Overoth-Kingdom of Shadows,a quality release that rarely gets mentioned!.

Heavyweights

Primordial – Imrama through to The Gathering Wilderness is an almost perfect run of albums. I think the output declined to varying degrees after that, although they've still maintained a pretty high standard, I hardly go back to the later ones.

Abaddon Incarnate – The Last Supper and Nadir. I don't think they ever came close to replicating those two.

Arcane Sun – S/T.

Geasa – Angels Cry.

As someone quite rightly said, everything from Mourning Beloveth.

I could never really get into The Waylanders, Cruachan, Mael Mórdha, etc. myself, although a few people have mentioned the first Waylander record, so I might give that a revisit.

Someone mentioned Morphosis – the two tapes they put out were game changers for me too. I genuinely couldn't believe there was a band capable of making something like that in Ireland. Lobbing on Modus Operandi for the first time was a jaw-dropping moment.

Altar of Plagues were a funny one for me. I was all over them when the albums were coming out, but with that particular style of music, I've found over time that I don't go back to them nearly as much as I do other records of a similar ilk. White Tomb is the exception.

Malthusian and Vircolac have both released essential material in relatively recent times.

Partholon were a band that wasn't really on my radar until relatively recently, but I really admire The  Ocean Pours In.

Everyone is kind of mentioning the same stuff – and rightly so. But over the years there's been tonnes more worthy of people's time the Overoth EP as mentioned above is one example. I've been scanning through the collection and there's so much genuinely good stuff that I still return to.

With some of these releases, you get the feeling that the bands were on the cusp of something, which makes it a shame we never got more material from them.

Mass Extinction – Creations Undoing.

I've always held the Stand-Up Guy albums in high regard.

Dreamsfear – Prelude to Destiny was another important one for me, not just because of the music but because of the production values too, have to put that ones release into the context of year of release.

State Pathologist – Veins of the Earth is a cracking release.

I'm probably in the minority when it comes to Hexxed, but I enjoy the whole catalogue. They're such great musicians. I do think, though, that they would have been better off changing the name after Transgression.

One that may have slipped through the cracks, particularly for those into prog/metal, were Primed. They recorded an album but split up either shortly before or after it was recorded. I thought it was great, and it's such a shame it never got the release it deserved.

Jonas has a project called A Place of Level Earth – the two albums are really worth checking out. I listen to those all the time.

I think we've been spoiled to be honest, there have been and are so many good releases coming out of the place hard to keep track of it all. And I've missed tonnes of others here but am out the door now.

Old Season - Archaic Creations.  Great for singalongs in the car, as I jump up and down the octaves trying to stay in key.  Only saw them a handful of tmes with Frank, but damn he was mighty up front. 
De Novissimis - Mollusc.  Saw them play it a few times, monsterous stuff.

Was talking to Tom a while back and he said he'd found a few bits they had for a second demo that he's hoping they might finish off at some point

Outside of your big hitters (Primordial, MB, AI, Malthusian, etc.), I think the Sodb demo is probably my most returned to release. Absolutely sensational stuff.

I could hardly say that I keep coming back to it, but I have such a soft spot for Scavenger - Madness to Our Method. Probably the first Irish release I ever bought and I couldn't believe that a band like that existed in Ireland. I found the CD in my Mams a few years ago and it gets a blast in the car once or twice a year. Ethereal Journey sounds great to me this morning.

Therapy? up to Suicide Pact, all of Gama Bomb's stuff, I'll Eat Your Face and Dread "Alan sounds like Skeletor" Sovereign get regular plays.

I'll Eat Your Face - "Irritant"
Completely savage, wild, heavy, violent.  Can remember coming across this soon after release and being blown away that it was just two lads from here.  Regularly still have it on.

Definitely! Was only bigging it up on here recently after an impromptu revisit and have had it on another few times since.

Weed Priest's first album was insanely good, too. Christ I played it to death when it was released. And the original trio were immense live.
Adrian Healy leaving them was a big loss. He was incredible to watch on drums when the band hit their groove.
