My daughter wants to start guitar lessons. She's 10 years old so I was thinking about getting her a 1/2 size acoustic. Would anyone have any recommendations?
I don't want to break the bank in case she decides to pack it in after a couple of lessons.
Cheers in advance.

I'd try borrow something dude, anything at all for now that size. If the interest is clearly there then think about making a purchase.

Worked in a music store a few years back and always recommended the valencia brand half or 3/4 size with nylon strings for that age. Cheap enough that if they dont take to it you're only out about 100 quid, but miles better quality than other makes for the same price (at least they were at the time). You could likely pick one up for dirt cheap on adverts and just spend a few quid putting a nice new set of nylon strings on it too. Personally feel that for a young child like a ten year old making them as comfortable as possible between the size and strings removes a big obstacle from them playing.

All that being said, I started on electric and did no lessons or anything like that, so I didnt follow that path atall...depends on the person at the end of the day I suppose

Good few on adverts for cheap.

1/2 or 3/4 size are ideal. You'd probably get a semi-decent one for 50 - 60 quid.

If you're interested in any you could share the link here and one of us I'm sure could give some advice/feedback on whether it's a good deal.
