This will be my first time at the festival. I'm wondering about the warm up day. Is one happening this year? If so, have any bands been announced for the 6th?

Will be my third time going, warm up night I think only started when I last went 2 years ago, they've stated details on this years are to be announced soon. The warm up when I went didn't bother with it, but last year they I noticed they had Suicidal Tendencies something on a par and I'd head but if it doesn't suit will likely sack it off again.

Yeah warm up night announced capped off with Frog leap who I think are playing the following night anyway, not leaving Berlin or Prague or wherever I am early for that.

1 ticket required if anybody has for sale. >:(

Question for anybody who has been before - easy to pick up a ticket from a tout outside the venue?

I've been a couple of times, and never spotted anyone selling tickets outside, so I wouldn't count on it.

When you buy it, it's a print at home thing if I remember correctly. You also need to link it to your cashless account thing so you can use the wristband to buy stuff. Always did that prior to heading over so I had cash in the account ready to go, so not sure how handy that is to do if you just pick one up outside.

In saying that it's always been a breeze to use, so hopefully wouldn't be any major headache.

Looking forward to this now its not too far off.

First time going - anyone have any tips? I read somewhere that drinking water isn't available onsite - is that true?

Definitely not true, there's drinking water available.

First time going too, but thankfully heading with people that have been before

Enjoy. It's definitely my favorite festival that I've been to.

Has so much going for it. Great location, cheap beer, great food selection, and always a savage line up.

I loaded the maximum amount of cash onto the wristband before heading over, equivalent of about 200 euro, and struggled to get through even that because its so cheap. Think some of the beers cost about 1 or 2 euro.

Think the water thing is referring to free drinking water which tbh I don't recall but it's so bloody cheap it's kind of irrelevant. The little town outside the fortress walls has little grocery stores if you need general supplies. Sometimes if it's unnaturally hot fire trucks will come and can hose you out of it if you're willing.

Looking forward to seeing Emperor, even though I assume they are basically a cabaret band at this point. That will tick off my trio black metal bands I most wanted to see live (Emperor, Dissection, Mayhem).

That's a daycent line up! Have fun lads  :abbath:

Far from a Cabaret band, still sound on point, saw them at  bloodstock doing the anthems set also was watching their performance at this years hellfest i think it was and sounded great apart from some dodgy backing singing & some of the backing keyboards could have been louder.

First time i saw them was in mid 2000s they sounded great but they had Faust on drums, i found a huge  difference seeing them with Trym   solid sound.

Emperor were class on that run in 2017, recent sets show they are chucking Anthems out again aside from not playing The Wanderer for some reason that was nifty live when the melodic solo really kicks in ah well, then finishing with a few tracks off the first album no complaints if that's their plan really. Found the keyboardist backing vocal not the worst meself perhaps a little distracting   :D

Awesome , I guess the glasses and hipster beard are misleading. Setlist looks good - would probably prefer nightside but anthems is a great album too.
