Still 3% of the line up to be confirmed and warm up day. 80% sold out.

Am going! I've never been to a big metal fest, so here is one for the bucket list......

Best open air festival I've been to. Definitely worth paying the extra few  quid for the VIP passes, even if only for the seated area a bit back from the main stages. Saved my ass more than once.

Food there is savage too, and the booze is dirt chape.

Can't go this year, but definitely hoping to make it to the next one, provided I can stop getting the missus pregnant.
I make big poos.

I suspect there could be a correlation right there

Sounds a savage job alright, would love to go at some stage. What accommodation options do you have - is it just tents??

No, if you go to the Shop section of the website you can see the hotel options.

We stayed in Alessandria last year and it was great. Seems to be booked out now though, but the remaining hotels seem to be the same deal, you get a pass to the natural stand section, and shuttle buses to and from the fest. The shuttle buses are really well organised, we never had any bother.

The hotel is the way to go for me in future, can't beat an oul shower and a cold beer from the fridge before heading into the fest fresh each day.

If you do opt for a tent, go for the VIP campsite, as that's a secure one. We heard of a good few thefts etc in the general one.

Hands down the best festival I've been to so far.

I wouldn't suggest it as big when considering some of the others that are out there and from what I've attended for sure, it's capacity is about 15k. That is one of it's main charms tbh, as said grab the natural stand ticket for € 12 too it's well handy for catching a chill out, bar up there too and you'll overhear people that didn't know it is a thing the first day or two inquire how you get up there to which they'll only be envious of bastards like me.

The previous 2 years I did it I camped in VIP camp 1 likely do the same again, 24 hour people checking wristbands to get in, as it's a woodlandish area normal camping is within anywhere there really which means its not impossible that non festival goers can wander in perhaps why some issues arose in the past but the years I was there no incidents we heard I have to say but would still opt for VIP camp as to less thought put in to where I'm going the better.

Around 1 euro beers in the arena itself, decent food festival wise, class surroundings, this fest is the absolute job!

Yeah "big"  probably isn't the right word......just a foreign metal festival camping out for a few days. Something the size of Wacken would just wreck my head. So I have my ticket, VIP camping and that stand ticket too. Will be fun to see how I bear up camping out for 4 nights considering am the wrong side of 35 now!

whats the logistics on this fest? where do you fly to train to etc

Ryanair flight to Prague then a couple of hours on a train I think. Dublin flights seem cheap enough.

I've done it three different ways now (hotel, VIP camping, peasant camping)

Hotel was horrendous. Can't remember the name of the hotel, but there was no air con and temperatures were hitting the 40s, got fuck all sleep and when i took the bedsheets off the bed, there were tonnes of piss stains.

Peasant camping was grand, if you could find a decent spot to pitch your tent. There are no designated areas, so you just set it up kind of wherever and hope for the best. I wouldn't be leaving my passport there though. That said, there was more afterhours craic to be had there than the other options.

The best option by far was VIP camping. Access to showers and flushing toilets, access to the natural stand area, dedicated camping area security..... it's a no brainer. Just be aware that those areas seemed to be used for sleeping, not partying. The bars stay open til silly o clock though, so that's not really an issue.
I make big poos.

Was at this in 2017. Going again this year with a few of us. The vip camping is the best option. Got that last time. Had no security issues at least anyway. The queues for the showers and state of the toilets wasn't great though!! Certainly a warm sleeping bag for night time and some earplugs too as some fuckers don't seem to sleep at all
The lineup is best I've seen it, not that I've checked prior to 2017.... seriously though beers for under €2, smokes for €2.50, good food and good weather. Really well organised too. Not much fucking around getting in or out and not much queuing due to the wristband payments. Bus straight to the airport afterwards also which is only €20. Highly recommended.

We are due another fest Brian,2005 is a long time  ;)

This will be my 3rd year back in the festival buzz at least Gordo, smaller ones anyway!

Unfortunately the hotel is a non-option for this one and the VIP camping facilities aren't very encouraging! Thanks for the feedback anyway folks.

This will be my first time at the festival. I'm wondering about the warm up day. Is one happening this year? If so, have any bands been announced for the 6th?
