I never knew about this lot, essentially the closest we'll get to Sweven these days:

Out later today...

I'm just discovering this January release by Exxul now:

Vocals are amazing.

Loving the new Worm. I'm getting Nocturnus vibes in there also?

Looking forward to the Cryptic Stench LP arriving with Vreid in 2 weeks I guess. Cryptic Stench out this Friday, got a great review on Angry Metal Guy.

Ah dude that Speglas is great news! Love his playing style so much, and his vocals seem more than decent from a listen of those tracks  :abbath:  :abbath:

I only heard of Speglas from reading comments on AMG the other day. I wasn't blown away by Morbus Chron, but I certainly was by Sweven. I've been eagerly waiting for more so hopefully this scratches the itch.

I see Melechesh have an ep out on 10th April on Reigning Phoenix. I was wondering about new stuff from them recently so it was timely good news. Looking forward to hearing the full release.

Mentioned Protrusion in the no playing thread, I see Extremely Rotten are putting out the (double) lp for Europe.
Strong Gorguts/Disincarnate vibe at once with some Suffocation vocals. Even sounds like a Morrisound production.
Surprisingly enjoyable for something so retro sounding

Put in an order for the 3 Speglas releases there, even the one that's only on CD... first CD I've bought in over 15 yrs!

Arcturus confirmed they've finished recording a new album, must be about 10 years since their last?

New Vomitory - came up on my feed. Vocals are awful and the main riff sounds like Deicide Once Upon Cross era

New Nunslaughter album. New label as well which is a bit strange.

Another band I would really like to see live

Maudlin of the Well are doing a kickstarter  for a new album so might have something out this year

New Elder album out in May.

It's been diminishing returns from these lads since "Lore" but I'll look forward to this one anew after seeing them live a few months back.

I really liked 'Reflections' too but yeah, after that they stopped writing riffs and just played noodly arpeggios in every song, I always associate them with Pallbearer who similarly released two great albums and then thought they were a 'prog rock' band.

Sounds shite but yeah surprised HHR didn't keep them.

"Reflections..." is good enough but, for me anyway, it just didn't have the same power as the records before it.

You are bang on about Pallbearer. I've had similar issues with Torche and Baroness too.

New Veles album coming which is very welcome but strange news given how the numerous reissues were done over the last 4-5 years.
