Quote from: Carnage on April 20, 2026, 04:51:28 PMThere's a thing - when was the last time you were searched going into a gig? It's been a long time for me, is it still a thing or have I just gotten to the 'respectable middle-aged man' stage where I'm not seen as a worry? Because I'll have to go and march in the sea if that's the case.

I think maybe at Dave Chappelle in the 3 Arena a few years ago, but I might have made that up.
Ha, funny you mention that - I went to Sumac in London about two weeks ago in Dingwalls (Which is maybe the size of Opium roughly), and everyone got a full pat down on the way in that bordered on being groped. Absolutely bizarre.

Quote from: ldj on April 20, 2026, 12:39:16 PMWas at Tori Amos at the Bord Gais last night, no alcohol allowed in the auditorium, that will go down well with the metallers...

How is she live these days? Saw her in Vicar Street (coincidentally where I've seen Opeth twice) in 2005 and she was amazing. Unreal stage presence.
It was good, I've never seen her before, just from videos I'd say it's a bit more subdued than she was in the past but she is getting older to be fair.

At the venue they were checking bags going in but there were no patdowns, the naggin might be a goer.

No supports announced for this yet which is strange too.

3 Arena seem to give everybody a good pat down anytime I've been there.

Need to start working this into google reviews for venues: "Lovely pat-down, thorough with just the right amount of gropiness"

Seems like it's only the Italian and London dates that have support confirmed so far

Was hoping for Blood Incantation, but it looks like the shows they're supporting are the last of their summer run in Europe

Hallas announced as support, class news.

Quote from: Ducky on April 20, 2026, 05:32:01 PMI got searched at the Three Arena going to see Wu Tang Clan and Nas in 2023.

The gas thing there was they clearly weren't looking for people with the devil's lettuce on them as the amount of people lighting up at it was mad.

They are just checking for drink or weapons sure. Not Ireland but a bouncer found a bag of MDMA in my pocket and he just said don't be obvious and handed it back to me.

I guess it depends on who you get.  My sister had come up to a Dublin to see New Order in the Point a couple of years ago and didn't have time to eat beforehand so she brought a banana and some other small snack with her. She was searched on the way in and a security jobsworth tried confiscating her snacks, telling her she couldn't bring them in. She just ate them there and then.

You will get searched going into any of the bigger venues. Generally the Academy and up. I have been searched going into the Academy I can't remember if it was every single time. You always get searched going into the Olympia and 3 Arena. They were searching people at the Aviva at the weekend.

I know a lad who was caught with pills going into Oxygen years ago and the security that found them called the cops over. He didn't get in, ended up in court over it and it was only something like 10 pills.

Bar a cursory bag-check, there was no frisking or searches at The Academy last night.

I only ever get searched in the Academy when I go straight from work and have a backpack with me, and then it's just a look in the bag and not a patdown or anything

Olympia and 3arena don't always search either.
