I watched a video of AIC playing Would? with James Hetfield singing. The solo in that song is perfect. Slow, dark and moody as hell.

Estranged/Coma and some other Guns N' Roses solos instantly came to mind. But 2 that haven't been mentioned that always stuck out in my head when listening to these songs many moons ago ->

A couple of people rightly mentioned Comfortably Numb - Lovelorn Crime could be considered Opeth's Comfortably Numb...


Another Opeth one while I'm at it, from their incredible latest album, A Story Never Told is kind of in the same vein as the one above...


Mastodon's Gigantium is a slow song.  Not sure if that makes Brent Hinds' cracker at the end a slow solo, but I'll include it here just in case...

Four bangers there, although I'm so used to the Swedish version of In Cauda Venenum, I got confused when he started singing in English  :laugh:

Don't get me started on that English/Swedish version thing.  I'm a Lovelorn Crime guy all the way, while 100% in the Allting Tar Slut camp if you catch my drift.
