I can see why new bands might lash out a shitty AI cover for keeping things cheap, I don't agree with it but at least there's a bit of reasoning

But Amon Amarth are fucking massive, they could get any artist they want to throw out a quick painting of Odins face, and it would still be better than what they went with

It's because they don't care about the product they're hawking, it's an afterthought. Their money's made on merch and touring, they're just going through the motions inbetween.

There's an endless amount of old paintings and art that is in the public domain that is free to use.

And plenty of up and coming artists whether it's digital or painting that would jump at the chance for a major band to hire them.
