He was recently on that Garza podcast. No interest in watching that episode myself but have seen this headline for it - Machine Head's Robb Flynn Hit Rock Bottom: 'I Got Naked, Screamed, And Cried For Hours'

He's been saying that for at least 20 years, even the emo kids he was trying to impress with that have grown up.

He's banking on the obsession with 90s Roadrunner that yank hardcore/metalcore kids in their teens/early 20s seem to have at the moment will translate into sales.

I saw a bit of that Garza episode on YouTube.
I'm not sure why I put myself through it. It's every bit as bad as you would expect.
The host is blowing a lot of smoke up Rob's hole and you can see him getting a horn .

The big question; Was Burn My Eyes a cold and calculated fluke?

Hard to say, The More Things Change has some killer songs.
It definitely went to shit after that stayed that way .
Burn My Eyes still holds up. The end of A Nation On Fire is brilliant.

Dunno about calculated but yeah, it was a fluke. Can remember the disappointment with The More Things Change when I first heard it. Thought it might be a grower at the time but no. Dull as fuck and it was only downhill from there.

BME can't be a fluke as it's consistent with the rest of their discography - namely it's shite.

I still think The More Things Change is every bit as good as Burn My Eyes, I'd go so far as to say it flows better as an album than the debut. There's even a riff on it that instantly brought Bolt Thrower to mind (though that may be to do with Colin Richardson's involvement), I can't remember what song it's in.

Burn My Eyes is deadly. I wouldn't say it's a fluke as there's a couple of great tracks on the second album. It was a noticeable step down though.

Zing!

Along with the first two I always liked Through the Ashes of Empires, probably because Rob was jumping on the Killswitch bandwagon and I was big into them at that time

The More... really suffered from the hype and delays , I think Sneap basically rescued the record after Richardson and Flynn had a falling out and Roadrunner had sank a fair bit of cash already.
It's still a decent album, just too fucking long for its own good.

Blood For Blood's okay. And Bay of Pigs. Aesthetics of Hate is also the only time the cunt ever sounded genuine.

There's just something I find intensely irritating about the music. I mentioned it before - maybe someone with a better grasp of theory can explain it better - but his choice of notes and progressions makes me want to poke myself in the ears. Seems like a fella who learned how to coax sounds out of the guitar, rather than play music on it. Not to mention the avalanche of squealies.

He also can't sing for shit, and the lyrics are obviously shite as well.

Kontos and McClain are the lads though, some great drumming on display.
