Wondering what the policy or planned approach will be for moderating conversation here to keep things on track and not descending into crap? I think it's important for the Irish scene to have a place to discuss metal,  promote up and coming bands and announce gigs and releases without every thread descending into fights or nonsense.

Agreed, things seem to be going ok so far - and it does appear for the minute that some of the more controversial characters may have not bothered or are taking a more sensible approach this time round. I have noticed the number of members swelled yesterday so Moderation will be inevitable I'd appoint one or two right away!

This is something I'm aware of. For now I'm kinda rolling with the "don't be a dick" rule, but I imagine it'll be something which will require more attention as the site grows. I'll be looking for moderators, but first I need to figure out which of you wee rapscallions I can trust!

Beaten to it!
I was actually planning on setting up something like this through the Irish Metal Archive, as well.

Might still do it yet... if only to have an active gig listing.
Logging gigs is an absolute pain in the hole!!!     :o  Wrecks me bap, so it does.

IMA is a handy site, so I'd be happy to partner up with you in some way, or at least provide a linkback to the site.

I'm currently working on a way to easily add gig listings without it being so tedious. There's functioning one for now, but I'm going to replace it with something more useful

https://metalwarfare.com/gigs/

Not really sure how that will work, but we can definitely try and work something out, if you're game.

I agree with the stopping everything descending into shit but there is a fine line before it gets very sterile and fully pc all of the time. The ignore button should stop most users getting their knickers in a twist.

Also people need to learn to stop being offended by everything. Did i miss something sudden or did being offended slowly become an actual good feeling while i wasn't looking?

I was surprised to see the amount of comments around after MI disappeared saying they were lurkers who rarely or never posted but still went to the forum every day. Hopefully any cuntishness can be nipped in the bud to encourage those people to participate here. I think there was a swift appreciation of just how significant MI was once it vanished. With luck, that'll spur people into contributing. A forum isn't worth a fuck if people are scared away and there is no new content.

It is not really a matter of not hurting people's feelings. It's about maintaining a high standard of discussion. Naturally that should include a bit of maggot acting but it's important to make sure the balance lies in favour of quality chat.

Yeah that's pretty much it right there

Anybody have issues with the current state of the forum?

For the love of god can we get some puns going please? The withdrawal symptoms are killing me.

What used to irk me sometimes was when some new kid who'd just discovered their first bands got ran off the forum.  They post about some crappy new band that nobody on here likes.  Rather than being ignored they were berated for two or three pages. As was mentioned in another thread the future of Irish metal is with the younger kids now.

The shite some got wasn't on, but if their threads are going to be ignored would they stick around to engage with the site either?
