Heading down early on Wednesday for the Ozzy gig. Any decent central record shops? Been a long long time since I went wax hunting in Dublin.

Sound Cellar, Freebird on Wicklow st and Tower are probably the only ones left in the city I think

Didnt know about freebird, must check that place out next time Im back there.

The Rage on Fade Street has some metal and hardcore vinyl downstairs. And Spindizzy in Georges street  arcade.

Is 'The Secret Book & Record Store' still open? On Wicklow Street? I remember it had some good bits and pieces over the years. Not living there now but Dublin had some great little places in the past, 'Chapters' off O'Connell St was a personal fave for years. Going back nowadays to see them all closed is a real shame.

The Secret is still going.  Chapters too.

Yeah The Secret Book and Record store is Freebird now. Chapters have a tiny CD section and it's mostly pop and indie stuff

Real shame about all the old places that are gone. Sentinel, Borderline, City Discs, Rhythm Records...probably loads more I'm forgetting. Used to just spend my Saturdays wandering between them all looking for a bargain

Used to do the rounds of all the record shops too when I had a bit of money as a teenager. Hiding stuff in the country music sections for later purchase on several occasions.

Freakout on South William street was always a port of call. For some reason they always had hole punched CD's in there for much cheaper than anywhere else. The place Smelled of wee though.

Chapters when it was on Middle Abbey street was the business. Used to be great for cheap tapes and CD's. Massive vinyl section in the basement too. Have some LP's with 50p stickers on them still. Back when they couldn't give Vinyl away.

Came here to say avoid The Rage. Total Ripoff. Selling second hand stuff for more than it costs brand new.

Yeah think they probably price their stuff from Discogs or wherever but OP just asked where sells vinyl not cheap vinyl! I picked up a Crurafragium lp for 15€ couple of weeks ago so not all bad

Freakout was unbelieveable - maybe not for metal  but in terms of hardcore, noise rock, industrial and general weird shit (shirts of old Am Rep/Boner Records/Touch n go bands, the odd underground comic, and at one point they had a box full of 70s playboys and assorted other jazz mags). I used to duck off college every month or two for a day just to go buy records in there.  Loved the place.

Yeah, Freakout was fantastic. They had a trough full of tapes for £1 with all kinds of obscure and promo stuff in there. You couldn't go wrong in the place.

Don't remember Freakout, when did it close down?
