Wow, probably the latest gig I'll have attended.

Flip!  Must be because they're travelling straight over from bloody Bristol the night before.  No handy way to get across other than what seems like an epic drive and a ferry.  At least they'll have had a bit of rest with the late start.    Crowd will be fairly steaming too!!! Class!!!

That was savage. I went for Goatwhore but Eyehategod gained a permanent fan.

The stage times were probably due to their ferry being cancelled and them having to drive down through Wales, get another boat to the south, and drive up. Seeing their rather modest looking vans parked outside, I don't envy them for that journey.

Given that they lean quite heavily to the hardcore punk side of sludge, I was wary of the mosh pit going in.

Good thing then, that when everyone cleared off for a pint after Goatwhore, I ended up center stage front row. My back doubled as the stage barrier and pit perimeter.

The stage monitors were the only thing keeping me from ending up on the stage. When they inevitably got shoved backwards, we had to pull them back and take directions from the singer as to his desired orientation.

Twasn't that bad, though - I just got a couple of kicks in the head from crowd surfers.

Normally without ear plugs at metal gigs, it sounds like a wall of unintelligible noise and you go deaf half way through. With ear plugs, it's muffled and a bit too quiet.

But at the front with ear plugs, it was still super loud and the sound had perfect clarity. It couldn't have been any better - even if you had a pro-shot video watched via a VR headset and studio quality cans.

My favourite part was when someone came up to the stage at the end and shouted "I love you" to the singer. His response was, "Humans are a disease. I hate people."

It's a bit dark that the singer seemed to be sloshed (there was a bottle of wine next to the drum kit), even though he's on his second liver...

The funny thing about this is he is one of the friendliest people you will ever meet as is Bower.

Great show from EHG one of the best times I have seen them and nice to see that they had plenty of merch. Was fuck all last year and everything was just available in either a small or medium.

Forgot Goatwhore were even playing until it was too late. Not a band I am really into but definitely one worth showing up early for will make sure I see them tonight.
