Ukulele for beginner

Any recommendations on a ukulele for a beginner?

My 13 year old daughter has taken Music as a subject in 1st year
She has given up on the keyboard piano, & is now looking at the ukulele

Any recommendations?

I have used cheapo ones in the past and they are a nightmare to keep in tune. Maybe that's not a big issue if she's young and just learning (and a bit tone deaf) but if you spend a hundred quid or so you can get a decent one. The one I have now was €120 and it does me nicely.

I was thinking that

The young lad got a nylon stringed classical guitar a few years back (since sold on), and was told picking something up in Lidl/Aldi/Cheapo would be going out of tune a good bit
Spent €100 in Pro-Musica in Cork and it sounded well

Budget is around €100 so


Might get an Explorer bodied ukulele online

I just googled 'Explorer bodied ukulele' ... my God, they exist!

One of my young ones is in the same boat.

As said above.
Cheap ones are a dose to keep in tune. So spend a little more to get a half decent one.

Also! Get the right sized Ukelale.
Soprano is quite small.
Concert is mid-sized.
Tenor is larger again.
These all have standard Ukelale tuning.

The Baritone is essentially a small bass guitar and strings tuned like a regular bass/guitar

The one I got my girl has a pre-amp.
It was only like a €10er extra for the plug-in version.
