A friend of mine gave me a copy of Slutet's "Love & Beauty" and one of their t-shirts for Christmas. He appears to be mildly obsessed with them for a few years now.

I only got around to putting the record on the other night and thought it was fairly impressive. So then I looked them up to see what else there was to listen to.

Ended up on a Reddit thread - somewhere I rarely go, what a kip of a website - where people were saying that these lads are NSBM.

I've never worn the shirt - it'd be a bit mental to do that without listening to the band (unless you're one of those people who buys Sabbath t-shirts in H&M).

I'm fairly fucking clueless when it comes to this stuff. I'm slow to bring this up with my buddy who gave me the record for fear of opening a can of worms.

I'm more concerned about him really - he's a bit easily-led and can be VERY intense (he's had his issues over the years).

And, personally,  I just don't want to walk myself into a conversation or situation that I don't really feel the need to be part of.

I only know the band name and logo (upside down lettering?) but haven't checked out their music for some reason. I didn't think they were connected to the NS scene. They seem a bit too arty for that, but who knows. Check them out on Metal Archives and see what it says there. Are you worried your buddy is a secret Nazi? I listen to some of that music because some of it is really good, but I have no interest in adopting the ideology. Probably the same case of a lot of people who enjoy BM.

Bare in mind that to some people, all black metal is NSBM unless it's self proclaimed left wing black metal. Usually that's a sign to avoid it, if you actually like BM 😜

I certainly dont know them personally or anything like that, but i would be VERY surprised if they were NS. And I certainly wouldn't turn to Reddit as a haven of accuracy for that kind of information.

My understanding of that band is that they are a)largely out of their tits on drugs and b) very into "transgressive" and pseudo mystical art - I don't mean transgressive in a Julius Evola style neonazi way, I mean it in a Richard Kern/GG Allin/"let's get naked in the wood and cover ourselves in blood for Satan" hippie cult  kinda way. They're more Psychic TV than Burzum ,not that TPOY isn't problematic

I follow their End Commune instagram and haven't noticed anything particularly worrying there. They have certainly flirted with Nationalistic imagery, but also non White/European imagery too,Arabic and Muslim at various points. I reckon they're operating on the basis of Chaos and being contrarian/"outsiders"/genuine nutjobs rather than the Fash  - I certainly know a couple of seriously left wing people who like them. If someone can provide concrete of them being actual shelfpolishers, by all means let me know though as I'd genuinely be interested....given I've just read another interview where they praise at length the Polish Resistance against the Nazis in WW2, I'd say it's a safe bet they aren't

Sltutet, can be seen an angst-ridden attempt at remaining sane and healthy in a world which bombards the individual with an endless stream of anti-human, degenerative, spiritually toxic bullshit: commercialism, the dangers of atheism, hedonism, pessimism, gluttony, narcissism, indiscipline, injustice, addiction, nihilism, existential defeatism and all the rest of it. It is why it is called The End Commune, and why the core band is called Slutet ("The End"). This underlying theme will always be with us I think. Maybe not as pronounced at all times, but as an important part of the core identity. It is why certain members, in the first, most unhinged and most drug-crazed period of the band, nurtured violent fantasies and quite serious plans of trying to help the downfall along, and why things like Kalashnikovs and Molotov cocktails have been so central to the band aesthetic. I know of the band but don't listen to them. They are not NSBM I would say the retarded accusation is to do with the label they are on. That label has released a few things over the years that the scene police would not want you listening to.

Ha. No - but he does get really into things and tends to accept stuff without much, if any, critical thinking. He lives on his own, works mainly from home and can disappear into himself for weeks.

He'll say something, someone else will give the opposite view and, without fail, this lad will immediately accept the counter-argument over his own original statement.

He's a massive fan of Psychic TV/Genesis P. Orridge/Thighpaulsandra - so it's apt that Pentagrimes mentioned this above.

Yeah, the Coil/TOPY fanhood is an absolute shitshow of humans for the most part. I know a couple of ex TOPY members, absolute goons without fail. Seriously cringey people. And there's some fairly dodgy shit going on with them, and in that circle. Much as I like TG and Coil, the cult aspect is pathetic.

And yeah Coil's personal lives cast a pallor over them for me nowadays having heard a few things about one of them, though as you say, "alleged", and I've no way of substantiating it. Incredible music though.

Not to derail the thread, but I recently got back into the French band Kickback. They're a hardcore band similar to the likes of Integrity. Then I came across a recent Reddit thread which contains a link to an old interview with the singer admitting to being a paedophile and a sex tourist! Most people on the thread are more outraged about the band's Nazi links!

Fuck Kickback and fuck Reddit. I'm sticking to listening to Nazis who aren't paedos like Varg and Rob Darken. You have to draw the line somewhere.
