Agreed on both.

I vividly remember rushing home with a friend to listen to DV having grabbed it the day it came out from Sinnots in Waterford, and we both actually broke into hysterical laughter on hearing the thrash part in Jaw for the first time. I don't think either of us knew how else to react. That transition into it from the sax solo sounded completely insane. By the time it got to the  "terrible ascendancy" bit we'd both lost it completely. (Hearing "Hypostasis of the Archons" on SC3s "Book Of Horizons" later had a similar effect..if your reading this and havent heard it check it out immediately.)

Gotta say  my other big favourite on there  is Backstrokin'. The Bends was such a challenge at first but it makes the album for me now.

It's amazing how the whole record is simultaneously  absolutely hilarious and utterly terrifying all at once, which kind of goes for the first one too. California is a brilliant record but you kinda miss the darker underbelly a little. It's there, just hidden better.

I think DV really pushed me into checking out so much other music I'd never have dug into too at that age (18)..definitely noise and jazz weren't really on my radar before then that much.

Looks like Warner's are doing a Boxset of the first three albums due in July. Meant to be announced today, but some sites jumped the gun.

Not for the bank account 🤣😫

No, I tend to leave that particular factor out of the equation.

Up on Spindizzy for €148

Spindizzy are sold out and are usually on the much more expensive side of things so I wonder what other places will sell this for. If I see it for a decent price I would buy it but it could also end up being one of those releases that sells out quick from everywhere that stocks it.

The €150 mark seems to be the standard worldwide. At least with them no shipping or customs. Freebird /Sentinel might be worth checking.

Wait..so the Spy/secret Song on DV is actually called "Mind Emissions"??

And is seemingly the only one not remastered...

Or is it a new song altogether?  What's "Gnosterces"?

Weird.

My copy of the vinyl version of DV is long gone due to house moves over the last 2 decades (to my absolute heartache, I should add), but I do remember the mastering of that was very poor, probably cuase it had the hidden grove and all, but you had to turn it up very loud to really hear it properly.

I will 100% grab this box set if I can get a copy either locally or from some euro mailorder for sure.
