I'm going to Cork city tomorrow for a day trip, we're going to visit the gaol museum and a few shops. Any tips? What are some cool places/things to check out, maybe some history or music related stuff would be cool thanks! :]

I'd just go into cash converters and root through the cds personally. Other than that it's just eating and drinking for me

All depends on who "we" refers to...

You and a parnter?
You and a metalhead buddy?
Are there kids in tow and what age if so?

Try to jump your way along the Shakey Bridge   That's the bridge between the Gaol Museum and Fitzgerald's Park and is only a small walk away.

I was going to suggest Fitzgerald Park if there was kids involved as the playground there is excellent. Seeing as there's no kids walk through the park to the museum for a gander:

Look out for Tomas MacCurtin's gun donated by my mother's family. It was my grandfather's night off as his bodyguard the night he was shot is what I've been told :-[

Carrying on from there, another short stroll brings you to some nice places on Washington Street for lunch. Spit Jacks and The Liberty Grill are close together to check out their menus. Usually waiting a few minutes for a table but it's well worth it.

Close to Washington Street, before or after a trip to Fredz: https://www.corkcity.ie/en/elizabeth-fort/ is worth a visit with good views of the city. The pub outside the entrance to the fort is a grand spot.

Depending on preference for shops or pints, I was going to say Bunker Vinyl and Plugd Records as well.

Alternatively you could take a trip along the North Mall, try the Francisan Well pub, head on from there to Pope's Quay where there's some good beer houses (take a slight detour across the pedestrian bridge to visit Plugd Records), then head further east along the quays to Bunker Records and some nice pubs on Coburg Street and Pine Street just behind it.

A bit of a walk uphill from there but I think this might only be open Tues-Fri:

I'd highly recommend a trip to Spike Island some time. You'd want a full day for that and even then you'll find you'd need another visit to see everything that might be of interest. Trains run to Cobh for that but I've yet to check out the Titanic Experience there.

Hopefully you haven't over-hyped Cork city too much for yourself!!

A harbour (booze) cruise stopping in various town piers during better sea faring months of the year is well worth a gander at some stage too.

Brian (Snare) has covered the bulk of it there.

The Goal and Elizabeth Fort (free) are well worth visiting. Finbar's Cathedral too, is up near the Fort.

Music wise... Check out 33RPM on McCurtain Street, also. Claudia can has a decent enough selection of second hand CD's.

Food wise I'd second the Francisan Well pub for beers and savage Pizzas out in their beer garden. The perfect pairing!

And there's also the Marina Market. Huge amount of food options down there and well worth just popping into for the vibe alone. I think the Ice Skating is still set up in there, if that's something that might float your boat.

thank you! I love checking out record shops though I never end up buying anything it's just fun to look at album art :,)

I would like to try ice skating the one in Limerick was pretty expensive for a small set up so I didn't bother. I love markets too so will check it out. My friend ended up rescheduling for next weekend so I have a whole week to plan it out now lol thanks for the recommendations tho!!
