Remember that as well, I think he referenced the fact it had been released in the run up to Easter or something like that. Either way, it was always obvious that Kenny had very little interest in the more extreme side of metal (if even metal in general) and he was similarly disparaging re Emperor when In the Nightside Eclipse ended up on the Soundcellar Top 10 for God knows how long.

Quote from: The Heretic on February 23, 2026, 01:22:54 PMWas there something on the Metal Show on 2FM with John Kenny that all of a sudden he just stopped playing Deicide, I think he said "just not gonna play them anymore" was it because of "Once Upon The Cross" or something?

Oooh boy. Yes, and teenage me was so incensed that I wrote in to him to call him a hypocrite for shunning them and still playing Cradle of Filth with some choice language. Got a letter back, on headed RTE paper, in which he literally told me to fuck off.

Prior to the end of MI, Ciaran had been trying to organise an interview with him for the podcast and I think asked a couple of us if we wanted in. I was in and had great plans to bring that up!

  Do you still have the letter JK sent you?

I dont. I mean this was over 30 years ago in fairness
