Compared to Frodo Baggins, for example, whose best post LotR work has been voice acting.

Elijah Wood has done some good strange stuff post LOTR - playing serial killers in Sin City and Maniac was different.

Come To Daddy is another good one that his production company put out.

I never got around to watching Maniac, though it's been on my list for ages.

Great pre-credits scene.

It's one of the better remakes.
Although Joe Spinnells' greasiness and that glorious shotgun kill in the original will always have the top spot.

Radcliffe in Extras is comical.

Watched The End Of Oak Street last night. It was.. okay. Was played with a sort of jokey tone which I was hoping it wouldn't be as I went in only knowing there were dinosaurs in it and nothing else but it wasn't the worst thing ever.

I think there's great scope for somebody to make a proper horror or darkly toned dinosaur film but maybe it just doesn't work as well is why it isn't done

I thought the new resident evil was pretty great. Im actually not overly familiar with the games/franchise apart from the main stuff but I really enjoyed it. i found it a bit jarring at the start how video game/cgi heavy it felt but once I just accepted it it kinda ruled. Only 90 minutes so was pretty relentless, didn't get tied down with much/any story/lore. It's a fun watch, plenty of violence and gore.

Watched that Lords Of Chaos last night. Wouldn't be a big black metal fan at all but I thought it was good now. They loved their kebabs and coca cola 😄

I liked it too. Thought it was cast pretty badly, but that aside it was an enjoyable enough film. The death scenes are fucking brutal!

The Hunger

Since I'm in a big Cure phase at the minute I was trying to think of what a good movie accompaniment would be. Bauhaus are in this, so it seemed like a good shout.

Id seen this once before and remember thinking it was enjoyable trash. It still is enjoyable trash, but I enjoyed it much more this time. Very hyper-stylized and melodramatic. Pretty much 'Goth: The Film'. In a different way than The Crow though.

Bowie, Susan Sarandon, and some other chick are vampires in 80s New York. Very new wave-y feeling.

Ya the scene where the singer kills himself was rotten altogether. It was actually kind of funny in places too. Was well done.

One of Tony Scott's best.

I liked how the whole thing is shot like a music video. It did come out right around the time MTV was really beginning to take off. I wonder if it was a huge influence on music videos, or the other way around.

A fair bit of the early British MTV video directors would have come through Scott's ad company so there's always that style coming through.
Plus Tony was always into finding new ways to make his stuff look cool whether it was from music videos or something he saw at a film festival. Not a hint of making anything boring compared to Ridley.

You could watch the worst Tony movie and still be entertained as he thinks about who's watching it, whether it's the film nerds to the regular folks.
Ridley just makes movies for Ridley.
