Akira

I've seen this many times and been watching it since the 90s, but it's been a decent few years since the last watch this time. Genuinely mindblowing how great it is on every level. The artwork, the story, the soundtrack, everything.

All the intro scenes of the bikers using the city as playground for violence put me in the mood to play Streets of Rage 2   I was also thinking while watching, it would be a great film to pair with Blade Runner in that '80s vision of what future decay would look like' kind of mould.

One of my top 5 most viewed movies too.

One of the best ever.  Savage film.  Keep meaning to read the manga as apparently there is tons of stuff cut to get to the point of the story but it works well as is regardless.

Oh dude, you have to: it's 6 volumes long, whereas the film (no less awesome for it) is the equivalent in length of one volume.

Another Round

Danish film where Mads Mikkelsen and friends try to test the theory that maintaining a blood alchohol level of 0.05% every day improves your life. Decent oul craic. They're all teachers and there's some genuinely funny parts of them all trying to hold it together in school. More of a drama than a comedy overall though.

Great film. If you haven't already, check out Riders For Justice. Madds again and came out the same year as another round (I think). The tone is weird, it shouldn't work but absolutely does

If you haven't seen one called Flickering Lights I would recommend that too. A lot of the same actors in it.

Cheers dude, I'll check that out. Haven't heard of it

Not seen either of those, added to list. Another Round is great fun. And then there's the best film I've seen starring him, The Hunt. Which is not fun at all.

Dream Scenario. Totally fucked

Festen is another brilliant Danish one.
