Yeah very addictive and well paced.

I've been watching the latest season of From and unfortunately it looks like more of the same in that it's going nowhere. Ah well, I thought it had great potential.

Also watched The Stand tv series from 1994. Not bad as it goes, but not great either.

Just finished up Legends on Netflix. Entertaining but fairly corny shite where the goodies always seem to scrape through and the baddies lose.

I gave up on From after season 3, life's too short for their Lost type fucking about

If From Was only 3 seasons it could have been brilliant. Was a great premise for a show.

it is brilliant, a few episodes directed by Chris Morris too. I think a rewatch is in order.

agreed, Coogan gives a great performance though. He really is underrated as an actor.

I thought he was awful in it. I am a fan of his comedy but I think his performance in Legends was so far off key. For someone who was supposed to be a former undercover agent who was lost in his legend and ruined his personal life, his performance was almost comedic. He was too lighthearted and befuddled to take seriously. Dunno. Pretty much every aspect of the show hit the wrong note for me but I still watched the whole cunting thing so what the hell do I know

Similar enough in Saipan: he was totally unconvincing as Mick McCarthy. Like he'd based his performance on a scan of his CV.

I know he's widely regarded as an acting genius and I'm not sure why. I think he's great at comedy and has certainly had one or two good stabs at straight man roles, but some combination of his distinctive voice and dexterous eyebrows deprives him of the gravitas needed for more serious roles.

Character creation and character re-creation are two very different games, I guess.

Apart from the brief appearances of Alan Partridge on The Day Today, I can't abide Steve Coogan. I don't know what it is but he annoys me beyond all rwason.

Possibly so. Or maybe he just has a lot of talent in one form and not as much in another. Could also have been poor direction as all of the characters seemed a bit cartoonish. Or at least most of the goodies did. Some of the baddies were more convincing but then their evil was often neutered by a perfectly timed kicked-in door and the arrival of the goodies.

The Alan Partridge series he did for Sky Atlantic and the surrounding specials are by far the best thing he's ever done. Much better than the 90's Alan Partridge show. The special were he has one of those chats in front of a live audience about the book he had published is still one of the funniest things I have ever seen.

I watched some of the newer stuff which was also good and I have been meaning to go back to it.

The first episode of Legends is very good.
Then it gets a bit American.
The last 2 episodes pick up a bit.

I didn't mind Coogan.
Might be his skit with the "Come Out Ye Black & Tans" that colours my view of him. And that he has Mayo blood.
Herself is from Mayo. That should nearly go against him, but for some reason it doesn't

I don't mind Mayo.
It's my charitable side.
