It's based on a standalone short story set around 100 years before the main A Song Of Ice And Fire/Game Of Thrones story. The setting is a tournament between knights and nobles, honour is at stake, that kind of thing. The main charcter is an underdog trying to prive himself. Nothing essential, no monumental events really.

Ya I read it years ago thinking it'd tide me over til the next book and it's a grand little side story in and of itself. But it's not nearly as lofty as GoT and was just wondering if some of the detraction is due to that or the source material not being covered to its, somewhat, limited fullness.

Enjoyed it when I was binging it, but when I went back to watch the last 2 or 3 episodes after Xmas, I wasn't overly arsed. Will see definitely watch the s2.

Quote from: Carnage on February 12, 2026, 05:44:01 PMThere're only two episodes left for it to pick up so I'd hope it happens soon. Awful so far.

It sure picked up in ep 05. Proper GOT violence amd cuntery.

Aye, enjoyed that one. In true GOT style, an anticlimax is inevitsble.

Really enjoyed Knight of the 7 kingdoms

Yeah it was a solid finish to the season.

Definitely a better second half to the season, but the first few episodes were a chore.

Was the same for me as well, I wasn't even sure if yer man was a good actor, but I probably didn't understand his character

It must be testament to how bad the last few seasons of GOT were that I can't even muster the effort to give this a quick watch. I did give HOTD a chance, and found it a bit of a chore to get through (even though it was a huge improvement on GOT) so the fatigue has well and truly set in.

I'm the same, just can't muster the energy to watch it. House of the dragon was such a chore to get through that by the time it finally picked up in the last few episodes of season 1 I just couldn't bring myself to watch the second season, or KotSK now.

I've rewatched the first 4 seasons of GoT a number of times though. Still four of the best seasons of TV ever. 5 was patchy but still had greatness, and after that it just falls off. Pretty much from the point they ran out of books to base it on.

At this point I can honestly say I'm not even sure I'd waste my time reading the new book when it eventually makes an appearance. Something that laboured is never going to be good.

I just watched the first episode of The Beast In Me. A captivating introduction.

Small Prophets definitely hit the spot.

Started watching 'Southland' on Netflix

Nearly finished S1
I like it

A couple of sub-stories, & a bit of commentary on social/economic divide between South Central & Bel Air!

Throw in the few car chases & guns, & I'm fairly easily won over!

It's a fantastic series. There's a couple of episodes in the later seasons that are incredible in terms of tension.

It's was a show that was fucked around by the networks when it aired. They change a few things from the second season onwards too.

Knew Netflix were gonna get the rights due to the connections it has to The Pitt (actors/writers/producers).
