Anything interesting in yer stockings?
Well after dinner the family we're all sitting around swapping kris kindle (?) gifts.
I had given some vinyl suggestions months before to my son in law who'd got me , a LOT of suggestions so I would get a bit of a surprise with what he picked.  So I open up this delightfully heavy package to find four records:
1. The debut from Trouble. Nice. Only ever had a cassette copy.

2.  The debut from Windir.  I remember putting all the Windir albums on the list because I somehow never delved into the band. Cool that he picked the debut (which is good if not as harsh as I expected) and I can work my way on from there.

3 .Moonspell- Hermitage, I don't know why I put this on the list as I already have the cd but I'm glad I did because I ended up with this sumptuous, deluxe double l.p. job that is truly a thing of beauty.  Actually a very enjoyable album that has gone unmentioned in end of year lists/ reviews that I've seen.

And finally 4. Samael - Ceremony of Opposites. Another that I only ever had on cassette copy and super chuffed to get this deluxe red vinyl edition. Thing was, when I opened out the gatefold, with all the young ones and oul ones looking on, I wasn't prepared for the pop up Jesus head replete with a forehead full of nails as per the original cover. Obviously it's facing me but when others start saying, here let's have a look, well, there was no getting out of it.  Talk about bursting  the  festive bubble. As my son in law said, Yis can't even  let him alone on his birthday,

You're fecking spoilt!! You must fair scare the son in law that he got you that much! Nice selection there, mad jealous...

I got 2 Horn LP's "from the kids" that I purchased and wrapped myself, so that doesn't really cut it

Got the new John Connolly book as well which is a collection of short stories inspired by Irish tales so I'm looking forward to delving into that at some stage.

Did a secret santa thing this year, my sister got me the Foundation series of books, which I'm looking forward to reading. My brother bought me a Death logo beanie, which is nice, and a T-shirt and blu ray that I already had! I said nothing, didn't want to disappoint him. Felt like a twat when I gave him the new Billy Connolly book for his birthday today, and he immediately said "I have it!" - particularly as the book he gave me for mine was also one I already had. Thought that counts and all that.

First Christmas since 92 or 93 that I didn't get any metal. I got beer though  8)

Judas Priest - Screaming for Vengeance LP
The most recent repress, very nice. Also omits the bonus track Prisoner of Your Eyes' found on the cd and streaming version, making it an absolutely perfect album start to finish. Just hit after hit.

Well we decided instead of everyone buying everyone else a gift this year we'd just do a kris kindle with a 100 quid budget each, saved a fortune to be honest!
