You can get the equivalent of 6 cans for less than 2 beans. And it's probably better than most of the cheap stuff you can buy in Dunnes etc.

Ah jaysus I'd be finished if beer got that cheap

Right I know we are all proper connoisseurs here, but what is anyone's favourite of the dirt cheap shite?

Lidl do a "craft beer" range from Hatherwood Brewing - Plunged Orange, Twisted Knot and Bitter Iron. All decent for €1.29 a can. They currently have a beer from Finland by Pynikkin Brewery called "Pacific" - last time that I had it, it was good tack.

I've actually drank the three of those and they were all nice. I must try the Pacific this evening. I do love me cheap shite but I'm not averse to something with a flavour every now and again. Speaking of good stuff I'm actually thinking of getting White Gypsy to deliver me a keg for the bank holiday weekend. Well a small keg because it will only be me drinking it but an oul treat is in order every now and again and it works out around 2 quid a pint which is not bad at all.

Do they supply everything or do you have all the necessary equipment? I like the sound of €2 pints!

No he supplies the gas and tap as well. I dunno what his range is, but it would be worth getting on to him and see. A mate had a keg delivered last week but he is only 10 miles from the brewery.

Just had a bottle of The Crafty Brewing Company's (from Lidl) brown ale and it was proper tasty. Nice pang of toffee from it, not at all malty (I'm not a fan of the malt). Grabbed a few different beers of the same brand so not 100% on the price, but it cost between €1.79 and €1.99 for a 500ml bottle.

Up next, their lager.

Edit - had the two lagers, there's are pretty decent.

I'm probably elsewhere in this thread extolling its virtues but Karpackie is the business and is my go-to for drink.  Used to be a complete whore for a jetpack of devil's bit years ago but not any more.  Two flagons for a tenner, disgracefully drunk.

Used to adore IPAs and drank many a wild variety of them but they tear the stomach off me now so ai don't often go after them anymore.  Happy to try any variety of lagers and pilsners though.  My actual favourite at the moment is Staropramen, I find them to have a lovely flavour without being overly heavy or hard to drink.  Very crisp out of the bottle.  You'd get a good deal on them often too, there was 4 660ml bottles in Dunnes the other week for a tenner.  Peroni is decent too for the first one or two but the flavour is a bit weak, they're just easy bottles.  Moretti is cracking too but I find it way better on tap than out of a bottle.

Picked up a couple of O'Shea's beer from Aldi, their 'Cold Dark Heart' Stout and an IPA.

Anyone had them?

Supping on the stout now and it's decent enough.

Minor query for any of ye on bottled stout. Do ye drink straight from the bottle? I do all the time but have gotten some funny looks off a few heads. The likes of foreign  extra have a scuzzy looking head anyway so best not  be looking at it

I'd always drink bottled stout straight from the bottle.  Find it much nicer.

Would also sup stout from the bottle.

Had a feed of White Hag's "Róc" earlier. For such a small brewery they pump out a hape of good stuff.

I went into the pub one day for a quick pint and I asked for a large bottle of Guinness. Here he says, Pint Glass or Half? No you're grand, I'll take it from the neck, I said. His reply was that if I'm drinking it in his pub, I'll drink it out of a glass or not at all. Prick. I would have walked out but there wasn't another pub anywhere near the courthouse and I only had a few minutes.

Nowadays I do use a half pint glass in the pub but at home I drink it from the neck it's much sharper like that.

He said that to you? Fuckin' hell, that's ballbag stuff. To a paying customer?! You'd have been all within your rights to tell him to fuck off.
