Surely this one will be pulled given the circumstances? Sales can't be great in the first instance, I know they can reconfigure the 3Arena but I think the minimum arrangement is 5K. Would Nightwish do that kind of number here? Maybe I'm letting my disdain for this type of thing cloud judgement.

Sorry I phrased the question poorly. I was aware that Amorphis are playing Tuesday 22/11 in the Academy with Nightwish the following night in the Three Arena. I was hoping to hit both and  was just wondering if stage times for either venue were out yet. Wouldn't mind knowing Dark Tranquillity's stage time either. Had no idea re Floor. Obviously wishing her a speedy recuperation. I'd be amazed if that gig went ahead given those circumstances.

The setlist was much better for the last leg, which ended a month ago. Not sure why they changed it for the European leg.  :'(

Maybe it's something to do with Floor's surgery, since three songs have been cut. Trying to lighten the load a bit?

Not sure why the supports have been axed. For those unaware, doors are now 6, Nightwish are due on at 8, due to finish at 10.

Regarding the abbreviated setlist, I imagine that is due to Floor recuperating. As well as dropping three songs, I notice they've included "Harvest" and made "How's the Heart?" an acoustic rendition, presumably with the aim of giving her a breather. I'm just delighted and relieved that she is in good health and excited that the show is going ahead at all. Early finish suits me travelling back to Cork anyway!

Quote from: Pagan Saviour on November 24, 2022, 06:20:22 AMHow was it numbers wise?

Was concerned when I arrived as to what the atmosphere would be like because a fairly sizeable section of the arena was cornered off as well as some of the seating. Hadn't seen it like that since I saw Bad Company there years ago. Despite it being far from a sellout my concerns regarding the atmosphere were completely unfounded because there was a great buzz altogether, and the band were absolutely fantastic.

I also must say full credit to them for coming to play here because they undoubtedly took a bit of a financial knock by doing so and I'm sure other bands would've seen fit to cancel the show given the circumstances. I was massively impressed with Floor too. To be putting in performances like that after just getting a clean bill of health recently is astonishing.

Although it would make little sense for them to come back again financially or  logistically when they do so well elsewhere, I hope they do come back again soon. Fantastic show and lovely vibe in the audience. Delighted to have made it.

It was pretty good numbers wise though no? A-G seating was practically sold out (top tiers closed off) and standing was grand in the config amended to, more at it than the AA/MH gig for comparison. That's a rather decent return for a band of this kind in Ireland I'd have thought I expected less tbh. They could have got more money off me as merch was quite good but 45 yoyo a t-shirt, nah soz.

Really baffled as to how you can maintain they took a hit from it tbh but okay.

Worth the trek anyway pity they cut songs from the South American run but highly understandable in getting Floor back on track, I've seen them a couple of times elsewheres and there always seems a spread of younger people at them so it did strike me that I'd say there was barely a peep of anyone under 30 at it I'd say.

Ah yeah, I agree. Turnout was much better than I expected also. It's in no way baffling considering even bigger bands have to do very good numbers on basically every date of a tour just to come remotely close to breaking even on it. No band is immune to this.

I'd be surprised if the band are at risk financially - surely it's on the promotor's head for each show?

I would've thought the promoter incurs the lions share of the loss but that  it would depend on the dynamics of a particular tour. And upon the flat fee guarantee that an artist is assured of as well as how that relates to the overall ticket sales. Forgive my ignorance if I'm wrong, I'm certainly no expert and not pretending to be!

Yeah, I think the show would surely be profitable for them. The full configuration is 13,000 and fully seated is 8,000 (e.g., Tool), so I'd imagine last night's configuration has a max capacity of 7,000.

€250k-€300k gross is a fair pop.
