It's definitely a better album than the Megadeth finale but that's a pretty low bar. Actually had to google 72 seasons so that's where I am with that lot . It's a festival friendly album, good luck to them, there's more than enough more interesting thrash acts like Critical Defiance, Ripper, Rapid etc. for me to be getting on with.  In fairness I was predisposed to be at best indifferent towards it when I saw the song title It's For The Kids.  I'd be going 7/10 after a couple of listens.
Wearing jeans and leather, not crackerjack clothes

Scott & Charlie have to be subconsciously still writing with Bush in mind.

There's some decent ideas and hooks on it for sure but nothing memorable. Better than Metallicas and Megadeths current albums but then again that wouldn't be hard at all.

I thought the same myself, the first half reminded me of SOWN - though unlike yourself and Pagan Saviour I thought the second half was better than the first.

Still poor overall, I'd take 72 Seasons over it TBH.

Sounds like Man City's climb back into the PL...

An eagle eyed friend alerted me to the fact they used an outside writer on several of these tracks - one Blair Daly.

One of his tracks is Edge of Perfection, fuckin knew that one especially sounded unlike them.

I don't hear the SOWN similarity that others are hearing at all. This is certainly the weakest of the newer Joey era. I'm a big fan of the John Bush era (I'd take his albums over most of the Joey material) and not even John would make these songs any better.

No, doesn't sound like SOWN in any respect. I don't really rate much of the Belladonna era apart from Spreading and Persistence. How Among The Living routinely appears alongside Reign In Blood, Peace Sells, Master etc is beyond me. Always thought of it as a nonsense record.

Ah it's very of its time I think. Yeah, it's not a patch on the classics you mentioned, but I suppose for anyone of the age of when it came out, it was a great album in its own respect.
I bought it upon release on LP and have fond memories of it, but I suppose some of the silliness on it might be a buzzkill to some.

I kind of agree with you in some respects. I didn't buy it on release for reference SOWN would've been my first Anthrax album, I worked backwards then. Thought Persistence was tops, but Euphoria and Among I thought were both disappointing. Maybe different if you picked it up at time of release but can't help but feel I'd still think the other records I mentioned were light years ahead of Among the Living, even go down the divisions the likes of Testament's The Legacy.

Yeah, some of Testament's albums I would consider stronger and more age of time kind.
Going back to 'of its time' again, my favourite Megadeth albums, or more precisely, the one I play the most is Killing Is My Business... and Business is Good! Simply because it was the first Thrash album I got to hold in my hands and listen to properly. My friend got it on import in TT's and brought it into school one morning to loan me. Up until that I had only heard a bad taped copy of the Speed Kills compilation, so this album literally changed my life, and I have such a soft spot for it till this day.
Over the next year we were blessed with the big hitters as you said; Puppets, Peace, Reign and many others. It was a magical time to be alive and my friend and I both worked in our family businesses, so we had some pun£s to afford these releases, even on import.

I'm putting on Killing now actually...  ;D

Edit: and now followed by Peace....

Ah lads Aming the living is classic thrash. Was in hospital with a broken leg when this was out and listened for it non stop.

At least you didn't suffer a brain injury unlike some of the others posting in this thread! Among The Living is such a good album.

Among The Living is fantastic, just behind Persistence Of Time for me. Madness rating the Bush material above either of those two.

My first Anthrax buy was the Oidivnikufesin video, which was recorded on that tour. Still outstanding nearly 40 years later.
