It still is. But I also agree with your point. It is obscene whichever self righteous scum is pushing that agenda, and there is no doubt it has a much darker feel to it from Trump because it's coming from the top down. With the left, it was a sort of deranged grass roots movement that the people at the top who should have distanced themselves from, chose to stand back and let run. I think that with how Trump has configured his cabinet, surrounding himself with spineless puppets, and with his direct input into cancel culture combined with his hunger for absolute power it is certainly more dangerous. But it appears to be a societal/social trend that he is capitalising on.

With Kimmel it's less to do with "the leftist said a mean thing about our bigot saint charlie" and more with one of the station owners is looking to acquire more stations.

We are now living with the unintended consequences of the left banning/cancelling/censoring (or appearing to) music, books etc etc. Now, the pendulum has swung 180 degrees.
