Absolutely not death metal but a favourite nonetheless.

I wouldn't classify them as pure grindcore. Mostly grind stuff (with some death metal elements), recorded at Morrisound Recording, produced by Scott Burns. It's definitely worth checking out.

I'd absolutely classsify them as 100% pure grindcore, but I'm pernickity like that. Apart from the Morrisound production they came from the punk scene and from seeing interviews in zines over the years they apparently had little to no interest in metal.

Said I'd somewhat ressurect this thread. So there is a book on Chuck and Death to be released very soon. I read the Scott Burns and Obituary ones and thought they were class, so will 100% pick this up https://www.decibelmagazine.com/2025/08/08/pre-order-born-human-the-life-and-music-of-deaths-chuck-schuldiner-from-decibel-books-read-an-exclusive-excerpt-now/

Decibel. Another wanted book that'll have ludicrous postage costs.

How they're not licensing to European publishers at this stage is a feckin' outrage. Then again it'd still be pricey as it'd be a boutique label this side of the map.

Cult never dies have the books but you get hammered with customs from there as well.
It's a pain in the hole.

Think books should be exempt from custom charges?

Not sure with them being based in the UK.
I've ordered stuff from Todstreib Records and Eyesore merch and had to pay the customs release fee.

yes, I think packages under a certain weight should be exempt. The last time I bought from the states I got a bluray with free postage. Got stung with an import charge. I mean, come on like. One measly dvd. Weighs fuck all.

Books are exempt from customs as long as they are proper books. Magazines, comic books and stuff like that you will get robbed with charges on those. It just requires the sender using the correct taric code.

I order regularly from Midan books in England and the lad that runs it never uses the correct taric code so every time I get the begging notice from anpost looking for money then I have to call them, then email them the receipt and after about a week of them sitting on their asses and doing nothing the charges get waved then it takes the lazy pricks another week to send the books to me.

All in all a very annoying experience every time but you won't pay charges on books no matter where they were sent from. I think it has something to do with promoting reading for educational reasons.

Well that's a good idea, thank you for that information.

I've held off ordering books from
Cult never dies on the basis of the tax.

that sounds so tedious just to get a book. Its not like you're asking for a Kidney like

I order regularly from Midan kidneys in England and the lad that runs it never uses the correct taric code so every time I get the begging notice from anpost looking for money then I have to call them twice, then email them two receipts and after about two weeks of them sitting on their asses and doing nothing the charges get waved then it takes the lazy pricks another two weeks to send the kidney to me.
