Ahh nobody is as bad as Soulfly, come on

Literally everyone who trots out the same dumb shit every time this comes up

One of the world's biggest bands to play the only festival of international scale in the country. Never saw that coming.

They are catching a lot of flack for just going after the money gigs, which would be fine but does it not go a bit against their ethos? Can't say I mind but there's something to it.

I am getting to see them headline an indoor show in July tickets go on sale this Thursday and the starting price is almost $50 higher then the Guns N Roses tickets I bought last week.

It's one band I won't complain about have seen them twice already and can't wait to see them again. Even saw Prophets of Rage 2 and a half years and it just wasn't the same.

I just hope they don't rant over and over in between songs about Donald Trump.

Just noticed as well they are playing another show two days before the one I plan on going to that's an hour away so will probably hit both dates if I can get tickets. Haven't played here in 21 years so that as well as ticketmasters touting is going to make it difficult to get tickets.

They have sold roughly 18 million albums - that doesn't make then even close to being one of the world's biggest bands - serious units shifted in a metal /hard Rock sense but in terms of the bands that will surely be playing EP? It's fuck all

One of the world's biggest/most in demand touring acts then, maybe. Mystique and nostalgia are what you base that stuff on nowadays, not album sales. They're - what - top 50 worldwide top 15 rock/metal? Not Guns n' Roses or AC/DC tier, but certainly in the Pearl Jam bracket underneath them in terms of viable fantasy festival headliners.

Some might argue they are in terms of the metal sphere but overall they aren't - I'm talking in terms of music as a whole. They don't compare to the likes of Coldplay or any of that shite but that's the stuff people go to the likes of electric picnic to see

Is it? Coldplay are stratospheric. Stradbally would be lucky to get one act that big on its lineup, let alone three of four. I think you're underestimating Rage's casual pull somewhat.

They're easily in the top 25 - 50 viable touring acts who can be put at the top of a mainstream festival bill and cause a buzz. Coldplay they ain't, but it's not like they've gone and booked Satyricon either.

A quick google puts Tom Morello's net worth around $30 - 35 million. So i wouldnt exactly say they playing for their fellow working class at this point

I'm working at the festival, so I'll be there anyway. Delighted with this announcement  :abbath:

Where I am Guns N Roses are playing a 40,000 capacity stadium and then a week later Rage are playing a hockey arena that holds just under 14,000. Guns N Roses played the same 14,000 capacity venue as Rage 2 years ago and did 2 nights in a row. Pearl Jam are playing the 14,000 arena next month and it's sold out. I expect Rage to sell out fast as well with it being the first gig since the Battle of LA tour.

When I saw Prophets of Rage 2 years ago they played a 16,000 capacity outdoor venue and that was close to sold out.

Rage are definitely in demand as they are well know for great live shows and that fact that every time they break up it always seems like that's it.

My bad - I was full sure they played it recently but obviously not  :( maybe I am underestimating their pull - but that may be due to the fact that I think their music is shite  - they're one of only about four bands that I've never understood the fascination with

RHCP, Guns n Roses and Pearl Jam just to enlighten you

Just paid 140 euro each for tickets bit of a rip off in fairness what was the O2 last time in 2010 about 50 or 60 euro. Ticketmaster now have another great new thing were even after logging into your account you have to verify your not a bot by having them call you or text you a code which of course doesn't work properly all the time. Now in the queue trying to get tickets for another show.

Does "where you are" involve a currency exchange? Are you in the US? People were saying starting prices for Coachella are $500, so I'm not really sure where one would begin with an average cost of concerts versus cost of living versus average income type comparison tbh! But I guess you're talking about tickets to a single head-liner concert, for starters...?
