Anyone else notice some mad digital prices on bandcamp? e.g. €999.99 here
https://scalpture.bandcamp.com/album/eisenzeit

The pre-release for Undeath was €100 for ages.

Some folk charging €5 for one short song release.

You'd have to wonder are there some idiots out there to make this worthwhile?

On the other end of the scale the name your price option starting at zero can totally rip the seller off. You see some people with collections of thousands on bc and it you'd imagine they're surely abusing this loophole paying the lowest possible.

Personally if something floats my boat then you'd surely pay at least €7 for a digital album (ie along the lines of most label prices). Say someone who seriously puts effort into something (e.g. Xoth) could be wide open for abuse based on their pricing model.

Maybe one for some musicians here - do people take the piss when you give them the option of name your price? I reckon if someone pays nothing to download, or €1 to have in their collection, then they're not really interested in hearing your band anyway. so you're not even benefitting from spreading your name and the apparent promotion.  Difficult one to call right I reckon, just curious how the various models work from a consumer and seller point of view.

Having said all that, cart ready to go tomorrow when bc don't get their slice! Some revenue they're foregoing each time in fairness to them.

The €999 thing I've seen a few times, it's usually because they don't want to release it digitally at all and want to push the physical release.

Boss HM pedal there anyway!   :abbath:

Will go back to that but it did nothing for me during the week.

Very short demo from these Israelis. Nothing new but enjoyed it for the less than 10 mins it is:

Some death from Slovenia, some of the riffs and vibe is reminiscent of Formulas era Tribulation

That's fairly damn nifty.

VK (Vassafor / Temple Nightside) indulges his fondness for Necromantia and all things bass.

Tangentially related to the last one I posted. This one is a new band from IV (Temple Nightside / ex-Ill  Omen)

20% off 20 Buck Spin releases on bandcamp until Sunday using "DOOMED2020".

I've picked up some great releases from them over the past few years that are well worth checking out:

https://listen.20buckspin.com/album/odious-descent-into-decay (one of my absolutely favourite albums full stop)

https://listen.20buckspin.com/album/steeping-corporeal-mess

https://listen.20buckspin.com/album/skeleton

Plenty of others from Vastum, Tomb Mold, Auroch, Torture Rack, Ulthar and Extremity.

Must add some Witch Vomit, Void Ceremony, Superstition and Solothus to the collection.

They also have Mournful Congregation, Spirit Adrift and Pallbearer which seem popular with others here.

Final bandcamp Friday today where they waive their fees. Busy day ahead reviewing my wishlist!
