What a gig that felt like what I would imagine an EHG show back in the early 90's would have been like. Dirty small venue, packed with people just doing whatever they felt like. Last year in the Lost Lane was great but tonight just felt even better for some reason.

Goatwhore were ok not sure what it is about them on paper I should like but Soilent Green are so much better. Chatted to Ben for a few minutes who was a gent. Would like to have met Sammy but didn't see him hanging around.

Francis from Bogside Sniper Squadron was at the show.

Some amount of retards in the crowd though. Hope they come back again after 2 sellout shows because who knows how much longer Mike will be around.

After that first night, I would've strongly considered driving down for a second crack if it hadn't already sold out.

All three bands were great, crowd was well up for it which was great to see. Odd drunken mongo was annoying - props to the muppet who shouted "JACKS! WHERE!" at me - but I guess it's the time of year for it.

What's with the arsehole quotient at gigs these days is it just people are older and getting worse/more mental?

The two main ones for me were some stupid bitch that kept getting up onto what I assume was her boyfriends shoulders during Goatwhore blocking everyone's view behaving as if they were the only two people in the venue pity I didn't have one of those plastic beer cups as it would have been flung at the two of them.

Then when EHG were setting up some bald lad with glasses kept asking each member for fist bumps. He kept shouting over at Jimmy who was clearing getting annoyed and refused to acknowledge him so he went right up to where Jimmy was standing and Jim told him to piss off. Then he continued to stick his fist out to Mike during the show with Mike eventually having to say to him in between songs "dude I know your excited but we all fist bumped you plenty of times already we have a show to play here" then a few minutes after that your man disappeared.

The thing with EHG is with the Bower / Down connection you are going to get the bro dudes showing up. I don't even want to think about what some of the crowd will be like at Pantera or Biohazard in February.

It was a fantastic night in Belfast on Friday.     Absolute pleasure to see them .  Was delighted they totally brought it and smashed it - had been worried they'd be done out after the big journey (or just simply wasted !) but I'd a very good mixture of moshing and just standing back and soaking in the glory.  As posted above, you could really appreciate the hardcore / punk aspects of their music, and that was class.   Laughed my ass off to yer fella at the end who shouted out ironically, "play your hits!"

Went to the gig with a buddy who doesn't know much about EHG , and i saw him  chatting randomly to this gnarly looking dude at the door outside , who was about to head upstairs . I realised it was the bassist Gary, and I walked over to say hello.  He flippin stayed chatting to us for about 15 minutes and asked us if we could make him a rollie.      I wasn't even asking him bullshit fanboy questions, just standing like a mute , and then panicked when he still stayed with us , as by then I'd ran out of conversation material . Super chilled down to earth guy . Quality experience.

Got a quick word with Mike after too as he was going up the stairs .

I was so stoked by those small interactions , that I now feel that they are my two besties and I am essentially a member of EHG.  Absolute mental derangement.

I really think I have stalker tendencies...

The whole up close and personal experience of the gig in the small venue was an interesting vicarious experience , as you saw warts and all what life is like for a touring / working band , and all the constant drinking , smelliness and tiredness of it all .    Not easy on the body for sure.

To echo what was also said above, I really am worried about Mike and the booze.   Only read a couple of days ago that he'd a full liver transplant in 2016 ffs.   I mean, shit.

Have a good feeling they'll come back next year , fingers crossed .

Also got talking to Sammy from GoatWhore, with my Acid Bath word vomit.   He said Ireland was a place they definitely want to bring the band.   Maybe he was just appeasing me .     As my ma would say, they probably thought i was being a wee puke .

P.S. having now read what Micko just posted above re: the knobs at the Dublin show , I shudder to think that I may indeed be just another knob.    Although I'm not a bro dude!

But I am going to see Pantera in February, incidentally...

Mate of mine text me saying they weren't checking/scanning tickets going in? She'd sent me on her ticket saying to come in and try it but I was going to be a bit pushed for time to make it in

Sounds like a great gig though, should have tried it

In Belfast they were checking names off a list due to system problems or something.

Re: Mike's liver

Hopefully if the first one lasted 30+ years, he'll still get a normal lifespan before he ruins this one.
