I had great times at those gigs and still love a lot of the albums from that era, but when they put it like this

If the Big Four American thrashers were Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax, the UK's equivalents were Onslaught, Sabbat, Acid Reign and Xentrix

it's not quite so impressive on paper, so to speak

For a newspaper that wasn't a bad article.   Still listen to Sabbat but couldn't remember the last time I put Onslaught, Acid Reign and Xentrix. 

Deathwish - Demon Preacher and Toranaga - God's Gift are two other UK thrash albums I really liked from back then.

Yeah, interesting enough, surprisingly so. Acud Reign still get the odd spin here, their comeback album was mighty.
