Yep - banger, really think the whole record needs to be heard, Phantasmagoria is another one, I even like the acoustic track at the end.

It's the perfect metal album; highly melodic and heavy as a bastard too.

Ride, Fountain of Innocence, and Ashes You Leave are my personal highlights, but it's all gold.

I probably wouldn't have gotten into metal when I did if it hadn't been for Cathedral.
If memory serves, it was a track off The Carnival Bizarre that did the trick.
I remember being told in college that Endtyme was worth seeking out, so off to the Sound Cellar I went.
I should have checked the brown paper bag Tommy gave me, because he popped The VIIth Coming in there instead  :-\
Got it exchanged anyway and I'll admit to being a bit disappointed when I heard this slow fucking dirge. I thought Cathedral was all groove!
I eventually came around and ended up digging it rightly. I still love the groovy era, of course.

Got the chance to see them when they supported HIM in 2004 and it was pure class. A pity that I'd only get to see them once more, but them's the breaks.

They'll always be a special band for me.

Must check out Endtyme. Forest and In Memoriam are great.

I only got into them around Garden of Unearthly Delights, so always had a soft spot for that and the later albums

Only got to see them the one time in the Village with Church of Misery, great gig

Endtyme is def more interesting than the more groovey stuff. Production is savage and the intro had me but then the tunes lost me. Has flurries of the bleakness of Forest but then goes HoF or latter day Celtic Frost or loads of the bands that they no doubt massively influenced.

Dethroned Emperor/Melancholy Emperor.

Dya think CF were inpired by this for the comeback?

Song that this thread is named after has been the worst so far. Production is perfect for the style.

The more I listen the more similarities I hear although I haven't listened to that it years either. This definitely isn't for me at all anyway.

When I picked it up i felt similar to that. It was too groovy and I wanted heaviness and bleakness. Listening to it now (on repeat) and the groove is working a treat for me. Pure Sabbath. Maybe give it another ten or fifteen years

A lot of Cathedral fans seems to hate this album. I don't get the dislike for it.

A new release but an old song. A "lost" one from the recording of their final album 12 years ago. It's savage.
