All thanks to Pentagrimes for this, but having spent the last few days almost exclusively listening to their three full-lengths I really felt they needed their own thread so they don't slip past others. Looks like they've barely been mentioned on the forum down the years, which would in part explain why I'd never heard of them, but fucking hell this stuff is great, all of it. Don't even really know how to describe it: a mix of blackened doom and progressively post-metal elements, while also sounding like a potential common source of inspiration for later stuff ranging from Mgla to Morbus Chron. I'm sure others, notably Jamie, will have more apt reference points to share, but man it's good gear:

I've listened to them a few times over the years and they've never really clicked with me for some reason. I've only sampled Voidwards. Maybe I'll give the earlier albums a go and see what happens. They are the kind of band that when I'm listening to them I think, this is quite interesting, but I immediately forget they exist when I turn the music off. Weird.

Ha, I've been doing more or less the same since that thread too. Having a blast.

I think Voidwards might be their best album, but "Desolated Colours" is my favourite track of theirs overall. Very much struck me as Unholy Jr. When I heard them first but they had their own thing going on, very much of that time and place though, whre I suspect 4ad/the Cure was as big an influence as doom or black metal. Haven't really heard anyone else quite the same.

I'd love to see this stuff reissued as it ain't,'t easy or cheap to come by and far less deserving bands have had box sets.

I stuck on the first one earlier and it sounded savage. Maybe a bit like Unholy? Quite a bit of a black metal vibe to it.
