I was listening to an interview with Andy Sneap today and had to laugh him saying he calls modern productions "laptop metal" and that everything sounds lifeless and sterile nowadays, saying how nothing sounds like it's recorded in the one room, rich coming for him

I just saw an Epiphone Explorer for sale for over AUD 2K. I was always under the impression that Epiphone was a cheap, beginner brand that offered affordable alternatives to Gibson. Have they always catered to the upper end of the market as well? I'm guessing they must be owned by Gibson because everything about their replicas looks identical.

Yeah they've pretty much always have had more pricey models & signatures along with the affordable stuff. Think Gibson have owned them since the 60s.

Goes to show how attentive I am  If I was to fork out a couple of grand on an Explorer or would want to have the word Gibson on the head.
