It was for tax purposes, IIRC.

Is it a peeve when one of your go to distros has a damn near giveaway sale when you already have your week's spend planned out? Ok Hammerheart, I can't resist, let's complete my Master and Isole collection.

Why do some cover bands have support bands?

This 80s metal covers band was in Fibbers on Saturday,  would like to have checked them out but 2 support bands to sit through before they came on about 11. The target demographic would want to be in bed by then!

There might be a good reason for it, but I always found it a bit off when a band turns their backs on the crowd after they've played a few songs already and then turn back when they start the song. It's not a surprise. We know it's them.

Maybe the are hoping that when they turn around there'll be a new crowd in?

Press releases. Whatever was wrong with rocking out and having a good time?

Blending emotional vulnerability with crushing intensity, the track — which marks the second release from their forthcoming album - serves as a key chapter in an LP that functions as a deeply personal love letter to the past reflecting on the experiences, relationships, heartbreaks, and hard-earned lessons that have shaped them over the last 25 years. It's a record rooted in self-reflection and growth, honoring where they've been while embracing the strength and clarity of who they have become today.

Is there a "Lick My Love Pump" on it?

I am sure this isn't exclusively a metal thing but so far I have just come across it on metal releases. The first two Ildjarn-Nidhogg eps have been reissued on vinyl. Instead of doing a single comp LP it's two separate LPs that run at 10 and 12 minutes.

Both EPs could have easily fit on one side of an LP but instead now it's two single releases at €30 a pop so ill be passing. It was the same a few years ago with the Konflict - Subjugation releases. Both released at the same time but it's 28 minutes of music spread across two separate single sided LPs.

It's getting close to the point for me where I just stop buying physical releases the price of metal vinyl especially has been too high for a good while now and is constantly going up yet the quality keeps dropping. I wouldn't be surprised if you see some distros jacking up the prices again in the next few days then claiming it's because of what's going on in Iran.

I'm sure I've posted it before but, fuck sake, the generic post-Sneap Metal album sound. Just listening to the new Metal Church album and it sounds like it could be fucking anybody. They're all using the same drum samples, the same guitar EQ techniques, it's all so fucking bland and sterile. Only the singers are different. There's no character to any of it. Just let me hear some real fucking drums at least. Fuck sake.

I can't go near any of it. Usually a quick glance at the AI generated artwork is enough to tell me it's not worth five minutes of my time.

100% I miss the days when a record would drop and we are all arguing about a drum sound or guitar tone. Bland and sterile indeed.

Well, it's a cash grab. I'm sure I'll get some flack for saying this, but the whole vinyl revival thing has been a cash grab from the beginning.

I'm still happily buying CDs and never understood the appeal of vinyl. Bulky, you have to flip it over, you can have inconsistencies with the sound quality over the course of a record (inner vs. outer grooves) and now (more than ever) CDs are far kinder on the bank balance.

I was at the Thundercat gig in Dublin the other week. He came out to the merch stall to sign stuff afterwards. Pretty sure I was the only person in queue looking to get the CD signed.
