Darkness Shall Rise are releasing a comprehensive collection of all of the Master's Hammer demos on CD and LP. I think I might be able to justify splashing out on a vinyl box for these recordings. I got to see them live at Beyond the Gates a few years ago which was cool. Maybe not the most thrilling gig in the world but it was enjoyable and it was cool to see a legendary band before they completely dissolve.

Will definitely get these but I just wish we had more info on the box as I would prefer to wait for that instead of buying the single LPs. The box won't be out until sometime next year.

Probably the usual extras; a t-shirt, a backpatch, a logo pin, posters, booklet, champagne breakfast with Monster followed by ballooning over Prague.

I mean these days you never know how a box set will be done. You have the ones like the Deicide box that didn't even come with inserts or the Mayhem PFA and Darkthrone Soulside ones that didn't even come with jackets all the LPs were just in generic paper sleeves. Then it could also end up being picture discs. I reckon these individual LPs will be sold out by the time the box is up for sale.

It looks like the LPs will be available in black and two other colors so no picture discs, thankfully. I'm assuming the box will consist of the same. You would hope that because MH are a relatively small band compared to Deicide, the standard will be much higher. Plus, DSR always seem to release high quality boxes with their tape sets, although I have never bought one and I'm only going off the pictures I have seen online. I doubt they would drop the ball with this as it'll sell out quickly, as you said, and their reputation will hang on it in many respects, this being the first vinyl run they have done (I think).

They did the Deicide Amon demos that is just out now which is the first LP they have made and they have the Immortal earlier death metal stuff up for pre-order. I have a lot of the books they did for the tape boxes and they are very well done.

Should be plain sailing so  8)

These are on sale now and as I predicted the box next year will be pic discs so I am going to place an order tonight. LPs are reasonably priced and all come with a booklet and a poster.

Oh well, looks liked I'm saving money then. Not buying a box set of pic LPs. I might snag the CD box or one or two of the vinyls.

I bought Deicide tape box solely because of book and I wasn't disappointed. Will get Master's Hammer CD/book version for sure.

My plan for the moment is to get one of the signed LPs now and wait for the picture disk box. My current financial status is dictating that more than anything. I also like picture discs.

Edit: I ordered all six. I have no willpower or self discipline

Anyone pick up any of the newer albums? I tried getting into them a few times but they never clicked with me. Some cool songs but overall I found it them too clean and didn't have any of the magic of the older albums, but maybe they're due a revisit.

Ritual and Jilemnice Occultist are absolute classics of course.

I am hoping the Deicide book comes up for sale on its own soon

The newer albums are very good. It took me a long time to get into them. I had Mantras and Vracejte konve na místo on vinyl which I sold because I couldn't get into them at the time and now of course that I like them they both sell for stupid money. DSR should be reissuing both. The only newer material I don't know is the splits and 7". None of the newer material comes even close to Ritual and Jilemnice Occultist.

It is the shame they broke up again because they are one of the few bands that managed to make a great comeback after having been inactive for such a long period of time.

Picked up the CD version of the demos from Invictus for not very much money (think it was only £18 to those North of the Wall), really nice wee set.
