I see they've announced a gig but without Aaron,Mikko Kotamäki from Swallow the Sun will be doing vocals.
Anyone know what's going on with them as they cancelled lots of gigs as they needed a break but are now back?

His daughter had cancer and there was a long period of inactivity as a result. I'd guess that this live absence is related, hard to argue with it really.

My understanding is that Aaron's daughter has been long over the worst of that, although it no doubt took a lot out of him. Basically, over recent years Aaron and Andrew have drifted apart in different ways and communication was poor. They just finished an album this year and one of them agreed to various gigs and appearances (Andrew I suspect), and then Aaron, who also likely has access to the official email account put cold water on them after they were booked. One American festival (Maryland I think) got nervous with the poor communication and cancelled their appearance, which Andrew didn't seem happy with. Regardless of the rights and wrongs, it was all highly unprofessional. Somewhat bizarrely, Aaron recently did full vocals on another album, produced by Gregor from Paradise Lost, and has since toured with them. Andrew still wants to tour, and likely needs to pay off recording debt, and got a new vocalist. Right now, everything between them is on ice, and they likely know they need each other. I get the feeling their problem isn't with each other as such, so everything might be smoothened over in time. But it's weird.

Sounds to me that the problem IS with each other.

What I meant was in later interviews they seem to talk about each other fine and respectfully, so there's likely something else behind everything. To me, it sounds more that Aaron is burnt out from the MDB cycle, as slow as it is.

Yeah defo seems like some sort of dissatisfaction from within the band. Hopefully they can resolve it and then find a time machine to go backwards and capture the magic of Trinity, bring it back to the present and release a monumental doom death album that farts in the eye of all of the interchangeable crap that's been doing the rounds for the past number of years. Maybe that's what the falling out was about; a disagreement over the physics of their time machine? Let's hope.

Sound!

There has been a bit of shit slinging on Facebook.
It comes across like Aaron thought his tours with the new band would have no repercussions with MDB and they have decided that won't fly.
Who knows what's been said privately though.
Aaron was Into The Necrosphere recently and he was quite blasé about the whole thing.

Just had a listen to his new band there, just sounds like a Paradise Lost b-side, I know Gregor is the producer, but still, very strange.

That video is pretty funny. Absolutely sounds like the most medium Paradise Lost tune ever though
