Anyone know of any metal shops, rock bars or venues in Amsterdam worth checking out?
(Only there for a few days in Oct)

Just go see the dirty women and get your end away.

Het Elfde Gebod (The Eleventh Commandment). https://maps.app.goo.gl/EYtiTGtg4oEDwbeN8

This is craft beer spot not a rock bar but... I've been here a few times and the tunes are always classic rock/hard rock - Maiden, Zep, Sabbath, GN'R, etc.. They played the entire Rory Gallagher "Live In Europe" record after the barman discovered I was from Cork.

Cafe 't Molentje https://maps.app.goo.gl/CFqfjqoRr3yWyqhz8

Again, not a rock bar but a traditional "brown bar". However, all the music is played from a turntable behind the counter, and, if you ask nicely they'll let you put on a record of your own (within reason) that you may have purchased nearby.

Not a rock bar, I don't even recall music being played there - just a great, great craft beer pub.

Brouwerij De Prael https://maps.app.goo.gl/7BV5pyYmi6EGgQYW7

Micro-brewery with good beer and delicious bar snacks.

Also worth looking up what's on in Paradiso whilst you're visiting.

Finally Bakers & Roasters (they have two locations) is savage for breakfast/brunch/coffee.

Have a good one.

(I have not been to Amsterdam since 2019. Check that these are open before visiting!)

Huge thanks to StoutAndAle for the info  :)

A few years back some mates and I were in amsterdam and went to a rock bar called "The Cave" I think it was. The place was a typical dive bar not too unlike a smaller Sally Longs. It was like they didn't want to serve us. There was hardly anyone in there and they took an age to serve us drinks. Then they blared music through a speaker right at our table so loud we couldn't hear each other. Pretty sure they wanted rid of us, very aggresive. Anyway would not recommend, just go to a smoker/rock bar like the Doors instead, way better vibe.
Also worth looking into the Vrankrijk, I played a show there years ago. Kind of a punk thing going on there. Worth seeing if there's anything on while you're there. If you look it up it was a squat but they own the building and it's a bar with a venue in the city, not rundown or anything.

There's a good metal bar called Excalibur me and the lads usually go to when we're there. Right in Dam Square so it's only a few mins walk from the train station. Great place with a good vibe, and more focused on metal than rock.

The Soundgarden is cool and they have bands as far as I know. Was also in Hill Street Blues. Cool place but don't think it's a rocker place.
