On to the new season of The Bear. Pretty good so far. The tension in the first few episodes is very well done. Has the few laughs throughout too.

Got tickets. The lineup is decent. Haven't seen any of them bar Sepultura. Should be a good one

Maiden doc is ok. The animations are utterly naff, but some great moments. The whole Poland 1984 section in particular.

I watched a good documentary on youtube about Maiden a few years back and thought it was great. Fairly sure it was official too. Why the need for another one if everything is already covered. I mean, it was a long documentary and went into detail. Great for the nerds

Long time since I've read 1984 but my impression from a distance is that it has more impact due to being darker in tone, and more gritty. Brave New World is about the dulling of the senses through gluttony and luxury, which is probably more true of modern western civilisation than the ultra bleak Stasi-esque grimness of 1984. It seems less harrowing in many ways. You get to chill out and fuck whoever you want but there are few, or no emotional highs to be experienced. But then, there is no obvious suffering either- if you're on Soma, at least. It's maybe harder to sell a future of being drug hazed and banging babes as an existential threat than it is having rats chew off your face

Finally got around to reading Brave New World. I'm about half way through it. It isn't as interesting as I thought it would be now. Still, good so far. Maybe I was expecting something different

Josey Wales might just edge out Unforgiven for me. High Plains Drifter and Pale Rider are my other Squint western faves.

Four of my five favourite westerns there. Top of the tree is Once Upon A Time In The West, simply perfect.

that's my favorite western by far. Morricone nails the score in it too. It is as you say perfect!

Watched a few westerns as of late, Unforgiven, Tombstone, The Magnificent Seven and The Outlaw Josey Wales. Unforgiven is probably my favorite of the lot. Gene Hackmann is untouchable in it. Any other western fans here?

I'm a big fan of Death and Exhumed. I think Matt Harvey does a great job live with this, but he already has Gruesome with the drummer gus. I don't see the point in this at all

They are never going to be able to record anything even close to the first four but the last two was a great return to form after a run of albums that ranged from mediocre to shite. I think the last album got overshadowed by the AI art controversy.

Still hoping someone gets them over here given it's been almost 20 years since they played in Ireland. Steve isn't going to be able to keep the drumming up for much longer he's 56. I can't see Glen continuing the band without him.

they are a band on my bucket list. I was obsessed with them when I was younger and to be fair they have more good material than bad. Certainly are due a return here

i listened to the last one and didn't think much. Doesn't seem to have the staying power of thee earlier stuff. Scars and stench are great to be fair

Just finished up Legends on Netflix. Entertaining but fairly corny shite where the goodies always seem to scrape through and the baddies lose.

agreed, Coogan gives a great performance though. He really is underrated as an actor.
