Classifieds / For Sale: Dean Razorback V Standard
September 18, 2022, 12:23:06 AM
2007 model, first run of production. This is the high end Korean model, made in the UnSung factory. These are generally regarded as second only to the full-fat USA version. Not to be confused with the later (and cheaper) version. These were made for one year only and are increasingly hard to find.

Black with green bevels, matching headstock.
Set neck construction, all mahogany. Chrome hardware (Grover tuners and FR bridge),
SD pickups ('59 in the neck, Dimebucker in the bridge).
Rosewood board.
Aftermarket Stainless steel FR springs

Does have a couple of chips, the worst of which is at the back tip of the bottom horn. Not visible while the guitar is being played and it's nothing overly egregious.

Comes with fitted TourTech case.

£450 all in, collected from Belfast. Will consider offers within reason but don't take the piss - this is by far the cheapest one of these presently available and to the best of my knowledge is the only one currently for sale in Ireland.

In terms of volume, through a 2x12 the DSL20H is perfectly capable. In rehearsal I'm running it at just over halfway on the master volume, and it sits comfortably with another guitarist, bassist and very loud drummer going full pelt. That's all un-mic'd obv.

Couldn't agree more. While standing in front of a full stack may make you feel like Randy Marsh (ie balls so big they require a wheelbarrow), your back will hate you,  your band mates will hate you for taking up all the space on the stage, and the engineer will hate you for your stage volume being unusable.

The wee amps are the way to go. There's been some great advances in them over the last few years too, now everyone from Marshall to Mesa is doing them and doing them well

Picked up a Marshall DSL20H over the weekend and fuck me it is amazing.

I wanted a small head for gigging with because my beloved Marshall 2x12 combo weighs more than I do. It came down to a coin toss between the DSL and the PRS MT15. After testing both I settled on the Marshall and I'm glad I did. It's perfectly voiced for meta even without pedals, you can literally just turn it up and chug away. It's also disgracefully loud for the size.

Best thing is the switchable fx loop- meaning I can leave all my effects pedals always on and just trigger them collectively from the amp footswitch. (All of the effects I use for soloing - volume boost, gate, EQ and delay -  are in the loop of my setup) so I can leave my pedalboard at the back of the stage and only have the amp switch and wah pedal at the front.

Killer tone and no more tap-dancing, in a head that weighs less than 10 kilos. What's not to love?

Did Dave Mustaine ever sell the house?

Where do you think Leather Mike has gone!

I'm still here ;)

New band are recording a single on July 17. I'll be substantially more active after that

Laiho had been sober for a few years but previous rumours as to the nature of the "long term health issues" alluded to in the press release were that he'd been battling some variant of stomach cancer. Say what one will about his music but the guy could play when he had his shit together, and 41 is no sort of age.

Classifieds / Bassist Required, Belfast
August 18, 2020, 09:37:33 AM
Enthusiastic, competent bassist required to complete lineup of Koma, Belfast-based modern metalcore band. Influences include (but are not limited to) Trivium, Arch Enemy, Gojira, Machine Head etc.

- Must be over 18
- Must have own equipment suited to both live and studio work
- Must be available to rehearse in Belfast once a week
- Must be able to actively contribute to writing sessions
- Previous band experience preferred but not essential
- Own transport an advantage

Our ideal bassist will be willing and able to learn our existing songs (tablature and demo recordings available) and put their own stamp on them, and able to contribute to future writing sessions, with a view to gigging and recording in the near future.

For soundcloud/YouTube links stick a comment on here and I'll get in touch. Thanks!

Very little actually riles me these days, but one thing guaranteed to set me off is the nonsense phrases people use in seemingly random fashion.

"For the day that's in it."
"Sure look it"
"Grand so"

These phrases make literally no fucking sense whatsoever. In particular the first one, it drives me to distraction. The English equivalent of Del Boy Trotter's nonsensical french babblings, and affected almost solely by people who have nothing more to say but love the sound of their own voice and just have to shoehorn one more sentence into the conversation.

Bastards.

Good thread, some really interesting facts in here.

My two cents - Zoltan Bathory (5 Finger Death Punch guitarist) is a highly respected Brazilian Jiu Jitsu artist who has won medals at a couple of world championships and was hired by the US Army as an unarmed combat instructor

For your own sake, I hope you are neither serious, nor in any way associated with that balloon and his pie-in-the-sky "festival."
15
In all seriousness though, why is this shite being enabled? The "festival"categorically will not happen, just like any of its previous iterations. The only thing that will come out of this thread is Phil making another shown of himself and being roundly derided, the same thing that happens literally every time he is involved in anything. Absolute joke. Thread should be locked for his own good if nothing else
