Am certain I read somewhere that the set is from across his whole career.

I think part of the reason that people are so accepting of higher ticket prices is becasue people don't socialise as much. When I was a younger gentleman I would go out at 4 nights a week, imagine trying to drink in a pub and get steamed 4 nights of a week now. You can see with pub closures and lack of late night venues that the majority of 'young people' clearly don't go on the piss and blow their wages so are probably more comfortable with spending silly money on gig tickets months in advance. Then there's the people who have grown up with bands and now have money, i spent close to 300 euro on Metallica in the summer. I can afford it these days. The prices aren't right but it's become completely normalised. The radio advert for Oasis says "ticket prices from 180 euro", that's mental.

I see ticketmaster are now selling bus packages to Slane as a ticket option.No end to their greed.

I won't claim to be an expert on trad music, just not something I was exposed to much as a child, but just judging from seeing stuff on social media there seems be loads of what I'd call 'lad trad' bands popping up seemingly out of nowhere, playing huge venues, doing US tours etc. Fair play to them  but it does make you wonder about how authentic the whole thing is, some of them seem kind of bandwagony, but that's what the young hipstery Irish people are into really - phibsboro, bohs, fontaines DC and pizza, workmans, CMAT, Paul Mescal, oversized leather jackets and mullets etc.
 

A good example of this is how many dopes latched on to the fucking Wolfe Tones at Electric Picnic and they ended up playing stadium gigs.

I actually saw a few clips on twitter of their Electric Picnic set and some ppeople saying despite the big crowd there was only a reaction for one of two singles and the usual 'i like all kinds of music' people in GAA jerseys had the phones straight out to record. They are the people who will ensure Slane sells out.

Romance is a decent album but I can see why people dislike them. They come across a bit pretensious.
Oasis leaked tour dates have Slane down for Saturday 4th September.

Wouldn't have thought they were at Slane level but it's great to see an Irish guitar based band playing a gig that size whether you like them or not. I think Slane lost the magic of being for big rock acts when they gave a headline slot to Harry Styles.

He toured with Jeff Buckley for instance, and that wasn't recent.

There was an RTE radio doc a few years ago that featured it. They drank and did gigs in the same pub in New York, am nearly ceratin that Hansard was in Jeff Buckleys band for a gig or two. Buckleys first gig outside of America was the trinity ball.

Jesus thats awful. Saw the frames 25 years ago and they were great back then. He was on top form with Eddie vedder but the best gig I saw him at, was when he performed with Interference (the singer passed away from motor neurone disease) and that was sensational. RIP

Great documentary called Breaking Out about Fergus O Farrell.Definitely worth a watch.

He did a brilliant version of "Rocky Road To Dublin".

Outrun was a great album.Bought it on the back of seeing Drive.

Seen him solo a few times over the yeras and The Frames at couple of festivals.Always a brilliant performance.He seemed to achieve more success solo at least in the USA anyway than he ever did with The Frames who like alot of other Irish bands never seemed to get the big break they needed.

Until it Sleeps is a good song,but i  disagree that it's their last great song. A couple of songs off Death Magnetic are fairly good too.

Crown Of Barbed Wire and Chasing Light on 72 seasons are 2 brilliant tracks.Would be far better live than anything else off that album.Reload has some underrated tracks.Devils Dance,Fixxxer,Where The Wild Things Are would all be great live.Load has tracks better than Until It Sleeps.Bleeding Me and The Outlaw Torn are quality.

I remember recording Until It Sleeps off the 2fm metal show.I really liked Load.King Nothing was great to hear aswell.
