Been using the EHX Pitch Fork with an expression pedal hooked up.  Great craic.

Any of you lads have any advice.

I bought an Orange Rocker 32 second hand from Musicmaker a couple of months ago. It's a 30 watt tube amp and I've noticed the last while that I'm getting some sudden signal/volume drops.

It's not a cable/guitar issue because when I take the guitar cable out of the amp I can hear the hum from the amp dropping.

Any ideas what this could be?

It's my first tube amp, would the tubes maybe need to be changed or something else?

Thanks lads.

That's a new one for me. I'd have thought that if the problem was with the tubes, it would be a constant loss of power in the signal rather than drops. Any kind of warranty from MusicMaker on second hand gear?

Not sure if that's aimed at me or not

How you think it could possibly be anyone other than you.....

I haven't bought much in a while, you (and a few others) must be catching up   :abbath:

I've been looking into a new guitar and I quite like matte black finishes but I've heard mixed reviews on them. Is it true they scratch easily and tend to go a bit shiny in the area where your picking arm rubs against it?

I had a Schecter Damien in matt black. It probably would go a slight tad shiny alright but really it'd only be noticeable up close. Spoderman will be able to tell you more. It's a gorgeous finish actually.

If this is the Damien 6 you're talking about, I still have it. Ended up with 2 of them for a while. Lovely finish, might eventually shine up a bit alright under the right hand but I've barely used this one as I'm not a huge FR fan. Still up for grabs if you were interested.

And both boards together don't come close to d'other fella's.

Not sure if that's aimed at me or not

Figured out how to get around the MIDI issues with the Mooer Ocean Machine a few weeks ago. I had the  Ocean Machine and the Preamp Live in 2 of the loops of the Helix and was having the usual problem of the OM getting all mixed up with the other MIDI messages going to the Preamp Live. Anyhoo, I stuck a MIDI splitter cable between the Helix and the loops and now that it doesn't have to worry about forwarding other messages, it seems to behave.

Have entered the mobile-home market as well which is severely restricting my gear spend so I've resurrected my old Line6 JM4 and left that down in the mobile Kerry for the occasional night session.

Had my eye on the Boss SY-1 and a TC Eyemaster but then my Hercules triple stand collapsed this morning so priorities have shifted somewhat.

Yup, I know it ain't gonna be the best guitar in the world but I'm willing to take a punt on it for €300.  The AA and Metallica gigs have re-ignited my Explorer-love.

Got a notion after seeing Amon Amarth in the castle the other week so pulled the trigger on one of these. Now I just have to wait the 6 weeks for it to arrive

Prob swap out the pups at some stage but if all goes well, I'd take a chance on this

Had a rare auld time. Friday night drinks in the campsite, stumbled into Lynch's at 10am Saturday morn and ended up in there for most of the early afternoon, enjoyed the gig despite chips being knocked out of my hands twice in a row  :abbath:

General consensus in our group is that we're done with Slane until AC/DC announce a date.

Is that likely to replace any pedals or you just adding to the collection?

It's largely to be used for late night quiet playing. Herself is up for work at 4:30am so heads to bed earlyish which rules out using the amps after around 9pm. So I was in the market for something with a pile of effects, an AUX in, headphones out and a few fx loops that I could add a few things in if needed.

So will prob keep the main board as is and just have this as a desktop unit. Plan is to run the Mooer Preamp in one of the loops and maybe the Ocean Machine in another as I've seen a suggested workaround for the MIDI issues I'd been having....all depends on the quality of the Helix effects really. DPD are currently winging it around Limerick city so should have it by noon.

Helix ordered. Did some investigation against the Hradrush Pedalboard, Fractal AX8 but Helix covered more of what I wanted. Amp modelling not supposed to be the best but I'll just stick the Mooer Preamp into one of the effect loops if needs be.

Pat in Dolmen is who I bring my guitars to for any setup work. Really knows his stuff and although I've never had anything built by him, I've seen some of the reactions from people who've had him make guitars for them and they've always been very impressed.

Really enjoying the Richwood electro I picked up just after Christmas. Hadn't tried them before but felt lovely in the shop. They have acoustics starting at around 350 in Savins in Limerick.

Bought my tickets on the Dolans website and there wasn't a single extra charge, fair play to them!
Don't give Ticketbastard any money for this gig!

Well shit I would have gone that route had I known. Could have easily collected on the day and had a few pre gigs pints!

Don't even think you need to collect it from Dolans, just print out the booking (or the attachment) and bring it along
