Quote from: Mower Liberation Front on July 13, 2026, 07:37:21 PMYoung people listening to country, what the fuck? Monaghan had the inbred yokel festival at the weekend, and the amount of teenagers and twentysomethings going to it is mental.  When we were that age, nobody listened to that shit. You had the indie fans, the metalheads, ravers, pop fans, nobody listened to country, everyone considered it crap that old fogeys listened to on Northern Sound.

It's like a generation of young Ryan Tubridys has been spawned.

Was always popular here sure look at Gareth Brooks almost having 5 gigs here years ago before he threw his toys out of the pram. As I was Googling it I find he came back years later and did play 5 gigs. Some lad I never heard of played Slane last night and again tonight.

Quote from: Halo on March 02, 2026, 08:51:05 AMThey have tried it in a load of places over the years, Paris, Dublin, Madrid, Melbourne, Tokyo and Hockenheim. Sonisphere did the same I think. I guess they were both trying to emulate Ozzfest in the US but it never seemed to stick, I assume because there was competition from existing festivals around Europe unlike the US where there is no other game in town.

Also I prefer when we just get the standalone (sometimes smaller) headline shows  ;D

Paganfest is still going 10+ years now but it's not really a festival as it's like 4 bands on tour together essentially and not during festival season. No idea how a traveling festival could make money the overheads must be eye watering.

Watched Sicario last week for the first time and was underwhelmed.

3 good scenes - when they leave Mexico after kidnapping yer man, when they enter the tunnel and when he gets into the cartel lads house at the dinner table. The rest was just yer wan figuring out that she was only there for legal shite. Feels like they were trying a bait and switch on the watcher that she was the main protagonist but GUESS WHAT the other guy was all along, which was very obvious from the start.

What am I missing here?

The shite they made of the OG series tainted the rest for me. Absolutely no interest in watching the two new shows.

Not a surprising result today given how our form has been the past 3 years. Feels like the team are chasing their own tails. Fix one thing and two others go to shit. Raging at the refs refusal to let us compete at the breakdown but we should have adapted and stopped trying for the jackal completely, leaving more out to defend. We've always had the problem of not adapting to conditions and here it is again. He wasn't reffing the scrum either, at least two penalties should have been given to us there. As far as the deliberate knock on, he let Sam away with one also so I'm not too miffed about that but the shoulder charge should have been a straight red full stop. They completely ignored there own rules there because it was always illegal therefore no mitigation applies.

One of NZ trys was held up from where I was standing and another was as good as an own goal. We did well in defense the second half but overall very poor. JGP had a howler, Prendergast had some great reads skipping tackles and great kicks but in general in attack the other team just drift off him because he isn't an attacking threat at all. A few lazy loop passes achieved nothing. Aki should have been bursting his lungs getting up to Frawley for that cross field but he was out for a fucking jog and had no excuse because he was on the bench.

Teams go through cycles its perfectly normal but it's been frustrating watching Ireland go through their dip yet completely ignore it by fielding the same old heads again and again. New players come through via injury or retirement or if your name is Sam Prendergast that's it. I don't buy that there is no one to take over from the established and fading heads we have because we always play it safe and field the team we know. Joe did it and now Faz is doing it. Faz got that extra 5 years based on 6N performance because that's all the suits care about and we will never win a world cup with that mentality.

Had to laugh at the lads on Virgin calming that first half of rugby was the best they have seen Ireland play in a long time. Sure thing lads only 4 trys let in.. Also PoM talking absolute waffle saying the ref shouldn't have been coaching so much and calling the penalties because it would have sped up the game??

Well that turned into a rant. Angered at the whole situation TBH it's a shitshow.

Festival so a few bands going at any one time. I've seen bands start and finish after headliners on other stages but never start after the headliner is finished.

Quote from: ldj on June 04, 2026, 07:15:23 PMLive performance of the new song, they're sounding pretty tight these days to be fair. New guitarist is a dead ringer for Mike Scheidt from YOB.

I saw them last year and the sound was incredible compared to when I saw them years ago. At a festival and all which can be hit and miss with the audio.

Quote from: Halo on June 24, 2026, 07:15:27 AMDon't some of the Euro festivals have a headliner and then a smaller band after them?

Not that I've seen. Headliner is the end of the festival, fireworks etc.. I've seen DJs play after in a tent alright after headliners but no bands.

Quote from: Ducky on April 20, 2026, 05:32:01 PMI got searched at the Three Arena going to see Wu Tang Clan and Nas in 2023.

The gas thing there was they clearly weren't looking for people with the devil's lettuce on them as the amount of people lighting up at it was mad.

They are just checking for drink or weapons sure. Not Ireland but a bouncer found a bag of MDMA in my pocket and he just said don't be obvious and handed it back to me.

Went last year for the first time, first festival in years actually. Was good craic, did the glamping which my old bones thanked me for. Well organised, not a massive festival so nothing was too far away. 4 days of music this year. They have a bar setup called el presidio with DJs playing all weekend, you can easily lose a few hours in there skulling jack and cokes while dancing on the tables.

With the extra day of music this year I'm not sure on the setup but last year at least the actual festival entrance wasn't giving wristbands until Friday because its free on Thursday for locals, so you get a wristband for camping and a different one for the festival (which you have to walk the long way around to get at the main entrance).

A load of free and constantly cleaned flush toilets beside the swamp stage, always a queue but it moves fast.

Local council announced last year in the run up that taxis within the festival and city could be max 25 euro or something. Haven't seen it yet this year but good to know as it's a bit of fucking around to get from the train station to the expo center for the bus out.

Powerwolf headlining the final night over Lamb of God is a decision but sure look it.

Quote from: ijnjnijnilijbibbjknkjbjkk on July 28, 2025, 03:06:40 PMMe too but why are Nailbomb so far down the listings? They should be near headliners. Short set so i might try and catch them at a full show somewhere.

Sure their only album is just over 50mins and the slot is 50mins so will get through most of it.
