They've probably been mentioned here but the most recent Lankum album "The Livelong Day" is my favourite non metal album in a long time. Very nice droney Irish folk. I saw a photo of one of their members with a Meshuggah t-shirt on too.

In recent years I got very much into finding the worst music of all time. Sometimes I get more of a kick out of it then actual "good" music. Here are a few Irish classics (excluding Tommy Rockit from this as I'm sure everyone know him):

Seconding the Boss Katana idea. Haven't used one but have heard amazing things about them. A 50 watt should be plenty for practicing and if he ends up starting a band with his mates should be plenty loud

The riff after the solo in Struggle Within is possibly the best moment in the Black album

Do Death (the punk band from the 70's) only have one album as far as I know. Really good early punk

I know and like some of the bands on the list. But surely agreeing to this a year in advance is you saying "we don't have too many aspirations for next year." Not that bands need to be aiming for Slane next year, but a bit of ambition is always good

I'm a noise/Dark ambient guy myself
Ben Frost
Tim Hecker
Roly Porter
My 3 favourites all in a row there. Saw Roly Porter last year at Berlin Atonal. and it was completely insane, a sonic experience of sorts.

I have too many to choose from for this... So I'll share one. Morbid Angel with Erik Rutan on guitar and spandex daddy David Vincent.

I'm really not a fan of the production on Focus by Cynic, but can't imagine it any other way

Between this Neil Peart and Kobe it's been a fairly grim beginning to 2020

Maze of Torment by Morbid Angel. Specifically the live at Wacken version with Erik Rutan on guitar.
