Only true of Blizzard Beasts. Diabolical, Holocaust & Battles are distinct, stone cold classics. At the Heart of Winter is the only classic from the second era. Sons... is hit and miss.

War against all, All shall fall and Northern Chaos Gods are so stock in their presentation i just couldn't give a fuck.

Haven't listened to a note of the new one yet but the debut is still deadly stuff i think. It was a fresh take on the style but i get what you mean.

My hatred of Pitchfork-approved death metal is so strong that I never checked them out before. I thought they'd sound like Mastodon with death metal vocals.

They also gave Aphex Twin - Drukqs 5.5/10 back then when it might be the best electronic album ever made. Clown show in every genre.

I like Riedl's description of them "Its like if Necrovore, Teitanblood, Swallowed & Beherit all died in a pit" Haha so true.

Quote from: Trev on October 03, 2024, 05:46:04 PMWent a couple of years ago when Emperor played, was fairly annoying having to move between venues and queue back up to each one, and for the bands playing the Roundhouse you had to take a 15 minute walk there into account

Unless there's a few bands playing the one place that you want to see you end up missing big chunks of the sets

Roundhouse is too far yeah. Its good its not used now. Great fest usually and i love the constant switch of venues as it keeps things fresh, people drinking in the streets and occasionally catch a heavy as fuck gem in the tiny pub setting, the devonshire arms. The queue is usually minimal after the first bands. Celtic Frost and Blood Incantation  :abbath:

Quote from: mickO))) on October 03, 2024, 12:19:24 PMThe drum sound is what makes UTSOH. They sound amazing and as I said in the other thread for whatever reason they have never been able to recreate that sound properly live.

The re-recording is awful and should be avoided.
True but it takes a good few listens to appreciate it. A drum sound for connoisseurs. It would sound especially good in a live setting.

Quote from: Carnage on October 03, 2024, 11:37:23 AMAll this talk of them, I have Gorgoroth: Pentagram on now. With Antichrist, Under The Sign Of Hell and Destroyer lined up.

Just finished the same. First two have aged so well. Anitchrist could do with an extra track but great nonetheless. UTSOH i was never much into in the past because of the production but it clicked this time. Destroyer has always been a lovely mess. Always happy to throw it on. Not arsed with anything after that.

The Chasm - Deathcult for Eternity: The Triumph
Timeghoul - Panaramic Twilight/Unreleased Recordings
Xibalba (Itzaes) - Ah Dzam Poop Ek
