Actually can really imagine Matt Barlow staccatto his way through WHERE WERE YOU WHEN THEY BUILT A LAD-DER TO HEAV-EN.

You know the way he bollocks on. "Lies, fool-ish lies. Be-hind your brain-washed eyes." Brainwashed eyes. Mother of jaysis.

Actually though...what about Tim RIPPER Owens for the Nevermore gig?

Didn't even realise the Bye Bye Lamps had something new cooked up. 'Antchrist Rise to Power' is fuckin superb.

Dicey one going by the 'Nevermore' bandname. Obviously ya can see why Loomis etc would want to do that from an emotional and a practical standpoint, but jesus.

I'd imagiine for huge chunk of their listeners Dane's vocals = Nevermore and without that...well.

Personally now, I'd rather it wasn't another 'name' vocalist Matt Barlow as @Despondent_Soul2 mentioned. That'd be a bit 'NeverEarth'/
'IcedMore'. The latter sounds delicious all the same.

No, I'd prefer they got someone ya wouldn't except like Steve Perry   Nah. You know what I mean though.

Most important thing is that it isn't shitty auld boy 'I used to be in Nevermore ya know' bum bum metal. Hope they're doing it cos they've got something they need to say musically, not 'yeah Wacken mainstage is a bit of raic and a nice few bob as well'.

Wouldn't be holding my breath for something amazing, but it'd be great to be surprised.

I love how every thread has the potential to be 'controversial metal opinions'.

Skyclad stayed at it beyond the point of good taste but jesus fuck the first 2 albums are class. The first one, 'Wayward Sons of Mother Earth' is an all timer for me.

Scratchin' the head a bit now. The ones I'd normally think of immediately are already mentioned. Not metal, but adjacent I suppose. I've really gotten into the Procul Harum cover Transatlantic do on their first album. 'In Held (Twas) In I'. Very nice job of it.

Quote from: Eoin McLove on September 21, 2024, 12:40:16 PMI watched a documentary on Netflix called The Greatest Night in Pop about the making of the song We Are the World. Very interesting to see so many huge names assembled in such an off the cuff sort of way.

Yeah that was fun. V funny when Waylon Jennnings just goes 'fuck this shit' and strolls off.

Been listening to the new one a fair amount. VEry fuckin' good, as you'd expect from em at this stage.

'The Blueprints...' into 'Fearless...' into 'Supernatural...' is a really great run of albums. That's be their 'peak' time for me.

That's round about the best ever description I've read of Desecresy! Really good band. Their last pair of albums are very good indeed. But sure, anything I've heard from them is all of a high standard. Lovely.

You'd revise that if you'd been around for my Mike Mangina era DT binge of the last week or so...

Quote from: Carnage on September 18, 2024, 02:32:48 PMHave a good sin is from Only The Good Die Young.

The Evil That Men Do is fantastic, if there's one dud on that album it's Can I Play With Madness. Catchy yes, but a very silly song. The Wasted Years of that album.

Lol yes, of course you're right.

The Evil that Men Do is a banger, yeah. Incredible brain fart on my behalf! It's Only the Good Die Young that wrecks my head.

Can I Play With Madness - very daft. I love it though. And the video with the cranky arsehole teacher and everything. Deadly.

Quote from: Ducky on September 18, 2024, 01:30:25 PMDoubly annoying that they have pretty much their entire studio discography + a hape of live albums on the shelf, but SSoaSS is kaput.

That's nuts. You'd imagine that has to be a temporary thing.

Here. Sanctuary beats the bollox off The Evil that Men Do, btw. Can't hack that one, really, despite being crazy for the rest of Seventh Son.

Have a good sin. Fuck off.

Genesis with Collins on the mic, take yer chances. Best one is 'Wind and Wuthering' from '76. Last one with Steve Hackett as well. Very cool.
