The Body - ST

Such a consistently brilliant band, from start to present day.

Finished watching The Newsroom last night. Cheers to whomever brought it up, was excellent. My better half never seen The West Wing, so seems appropriate to start that at the weekend now.

The Mo Amer special on Netflix is some fun - his story about trying to get  an American passport is great.

Have a few packages coming from the States, shipped early March. Still no sign of them. Not complaining, as I know it's been a difficult time for all postal services, but man, it's annoying!

Gigs and Festivals / Re: No gigs til 2021?

Gatherings of 300 allowed here (Switzerland) as of end of May now. Not that I'm really holding out for any major gig action - we might be allowed 300 people but not much use if the rest of Europe can't support a tour.

Government announced here in Switzerland today that restaurants can open again from May 11th - with distancing protocols in place of course. I believe the Swiss football teams will be back training then too, and all remaining shops can open.

Most shops opened as of Monday just passed there. Finally got a haircut after 9 weeks!

Switzerland checking in...whilst nowhere near as grim as Spain or Italy, it's a weird place to be right now. Been stuck at home for a week now,  walks and food shopping aside.

I thought working from home would be a breeze, but actually the mental side of all this is tough. If you can get out and get some fresh air, perhaps see some other humans (from a distance!),  I recommend you do.

Sounds great, just ordered a tape.

General Discussion / Atlanta
January 10, 2020, 11:17:34 PM
Just heard today I'm going to Atlanta at the end of the  month for a week long workshop. Company has been kind enough to tell me to stay on afterwards and have a bit of a holiday.

Any recommendations, record stores, venues to check out and craft beer spots?

Not sure Corpse Candle ever recorded anything, except a few rehearsals. I have a copy of the Impaled and Unearthly tapes, must see if I can work out a way to get them onto something digital. If I do, I'll fire you a copy for sure.

Nah, I wasn't in Corpse Candle, although I was friendly with all of those guys. I was in the tragically band thrash-ish band Impaled.

During the tape trading days, I used to write to Timo a lot - we were exchanging tapes at a fierce rate!

That image on Metal Archives is the actual cover alright.  It was done by Dark Rites design, and the logo was by Timo Ketola. Layout and all that stuff was done by Andy from Anthropomancy.

Jamie, I see you're one of the first people on the thanks list!

A teenage me helped Unearthly put out that tape - I still have a copy of it here. Awesome times! Had no idea Paul went on to be an author, must check his stuff out.

I end up changing mind once every year / 15 months or so.

Rega players are nice, but changing the cartridge is a right pain in the ass.

Been listening to a fair bit of Earl Sweatshirt recently. I'd be mostly into older hip hop, but he's one of the new lot of artists that is doing it for me.
