Just to note, this same lad is planning on selling his entire LP collection. I would say there is easily 30 grand worth of classics in there. Worth keeping an eye on.

Serious signing for the label and a seriously impressive label to sign to. Immense.

Well that was fucking great. Missed Death The Leveller due to pints but Primordial were excellent. Hadn't seen them in a venue that small in a long long time.

Metal Discussion / Re: Albums of the year 2025

Definitely agreed on the Sexmag and Necromaniac. The Necromaniac in particular is one of the most interesting metal albums in the last few years, can't be easy to meld so many styles together and still have the album flow so well.

I think overall album of the year for me is Vultures Vengeance - Dust Age. Their earlier stuff was good but this is another level altogether. Like a mix of Cirith Ungol, Crimson Glory, Adramelch and Twisted Tower Dire. The best heavy metal album I've heard in years.

Coroner - No More Colour. For years I had lumped it in alongside Grin and assumed it was some sort of stop/start shite so didn't even bother listening to it. Great album.

Monstrosity - In Dark Purity I somehow had never heard years after buying Imperial Doom. Much slicker obviously but some class songs on there.

Was in the mood for some Florida style death metal during the week and Eternal - Cryptic Lust fit the bill very nicely. Really solid album.

Some class recommendations here...cheers! Definitely some bands I had overlooked in the past (especially Gorefest) but time for a revisit I think.

Looking for any and all recommendations for any newer bands or older obscure bands taking heavy influence from these albums... shameless ripoffs welcome! Closest ones I have found so far is

Exhumed - Gore Metal, Anatomy is Destiny
General Surgery - Necrology

This overlooked technical death metal ripper.

Great list Thorn. I've about 5-6 albums there that are right up my alley but haven't heard. That's the weekends driving tunes sorted.

The full album is up, I just linked to one track there. LP has been out for a few weeks at this stage.

One man band comprised of Nate Garrett from Spirit Adrift. This is basically a Type O Negative tribute band, to the extent that people thought it was AI generated up until it was announced who was behind the album. Shameless ripoff or not, it's a class listen.

General Discussion / Re: Film

The Ninth Gate is a great watch. Gets a bit farcical around the middle but manages to pull it off. Only film I can tolerate Depp in to be honest. Soundtrack is phenomenal, same composer as Bram Stokers Dracula.

Finally got around to watching Alien Romulus. A good watch ruined by some absolutely fucking pointless references to the older Alien films and some very dodgy CG for one character in particular. Shame really as Alvarez is a fairly competent director.

I haven't picked up too many new releases this year but top of the list for me is Reversed - Wildly Possessed. Deceased - Children of The Morgue a close second.

Metal Discussion / Re: The Peaceville Three

The first Dream Unending LP definitely takes a lot of influence from'The Silent Enigma'.

Just started into the MDB last week on a particularly dreary day. Followed by Dance of December Souls and the Ceremonium compilation album. I think Turn Loose The Swans is my pick of the albums from the Peaceville three, but there's 9-10 releases over the span of a few years that are all absolute classics.
