Well that's fucking awful.

to be fair, the one thing of his I'd heard and enjoyed over the last few years was that Dub release he did with The Bug, and I believe he's done other solo records in the style that's good (im fairly clueless about Dub for the most part), but yeah this sounds like a parody. Again, if he has a history making Dub music that isnt' related to Sleep..this also kinda seems a little eh...opportunist in some ways given the recent sudden reappearance of Sleep.

Anyways, Holy Mountain and Vol. 1 are great so that's enough for me.

work bacwards from there for the good stuff.

Near Dark

The next on the Halloween list. An absolute classic across the board. Kind of wish Bill Paxton had gotten his own spinoff movie playing Severen. It also tied in really well with my goth listening phase.

Weird coincidence, rewatched it myself yesterday afternoon!

Apparently there's a TV show of it coming, A24 are involved

tonight, should anyone be at a loose end in Drogheda and in need of some riffage

God, I fucking hate The Scratch.

Being charged 9 quid for a pint at Phrenelith certainly wouldnt encourage me to go back.
Interesting decor and that's about the only good thing Id say about it.

Ape would be my favourite too, with Black Antlers close behind.

yep, Ape is probably mine too - "Heaven's Blade" is a particular favourite tune - though I've a real soft spot for "Scatology" as well as it was the first album of theirs I managed to get my hands on, so that's a close second. There's so much stuff that they're a hard band to get into at first but once they click, they really click. Having said that, there's plenty I rarely revisit - "Black Antlers" is one of them, which I must rectify. Quite a bit I don't particularly like either.

Lately it's been the "Black light District" album and "L.S.D" though. I see Mute are reissuing stuff now - though "Gold is the Metal" as the first of the reissue series is a weird choice, as it's hardly essential.

You know what theworst thing about Coil is though? Die hard Coil fans

Shock alright. R.i.P. fairly sure not one metal or punk band I like would have existed without Venom, and certainly seeing the videos on Monsters of Rock as a child absolutely changed things for me. It's awful that their legacy ended in the middle of a row over money.

Might be a good time to remind people out there that should you find a particular poster's views abhorrent to the point where they impare your will to post on here, we do have an extremely handy "ignore" option.Very handy for obvious trolls in particular.

The start of Hammerhead from Flotsam & Jetsam, Newsted was a fucking beast

Ahh yeah that bassline is fucking fantastic.

Gotta mention Bill Gould - so many, but "Rn'R" is probably my favourite

Steve DiGiorgio's entire performance on Autopsy's "Keeper of Decay" but from about 1.52 to the 2 minute mark in particular
See also: "Destined to Fester"

Disharmonic Orchestra's "Time Frame"

Gonna throw in 24-7 Spyz "Don't Break My Heart" as well for the craic, because funk metal existed wether we like it or not

Nedgravd covering a bunch of songs from "Soulside Journey" and "Goatlord" (and a Molested cover for good measure)

Holy shiiiiit.

Saw an interview somewhere where Bill mentioned he's working on doing more vocals in the future - wether they're Brent's parts or what I don't think he said

Godflesh - Decay

Fucking hell. Literally. Probably the darkest/heaviest Godflesh record which is wild this late in their existence. Sorry Neurosis, your album of the year title has just been taken. Shame it's only 6 tracks but jesus it's pummeling. The last track in particular is really unnerving. If this is how theyre going out then what a way to go.
