Gigs and Festivals / Opeth 30th Anniversary Tour (Europe) Oct 2021
September 04, 2020, 05:13:19 PM
https://www.loudersound.com/news/opeth-announce-30th-anniversary-tour-and-you-get-to-choose-the-setlist
"We are planning a very few select shows around the world in 2021 where you basically have the collective choice of picking the songs for the setlist. Since we'll be celebrating 30 years we would love to play a song from each album we've done. All 13 of them.
"If you can help us and pick your choice of one song per album from the list, and then we'll simply play the songs with the most votes"
Oct 13: Berlin Admiralspalast, Germany
Oct 14: Wiesbaden Schlachthof, Germany
Oct 15: Paris Salle Pleyel, France
Oct 16: London Eventim Apollo, London
Oct 18: Wuppertal Historische Stadthalle, Germany
Oct 19: Utrecht TivoliVredenburg (Grote Zaal), Netherlands
Oct 20: Utrecht - TivoliVredenburg (Ronda), Netherlands
Oct 25: Lisbon - Colisue dos Recreios, Portugal
Hopefully I'll be hitting both Utrecht dates

Totally agree with Ducky regarding Wilson's "Raven That Refused to Sing". Don't dismiss it cos you're not a PT fan ... it's very much Wilson's most "prog faithful" album if you know what I mean.
Another pure 70's sounding prog album - plenty of jazz noodling - would be Diagonal's 2012 album - The Second Mechanism. These remind me more of Van Der Graaf Generator. It's a good album - if a little unremarkable. Worth a listen.

Another album I love is Sound of Contact's "Dimensionaut" from 2013. It's a concept album about space and time travel. Phil Collin's son Simon plays drums and lead vocals - there are parts were he's unbelievably like his dad - vocal wise but also drumming style.
It's a great album although I'd probably call it "pop-prog" (not that there's anything wrong with that). Recommend giving the album a full listen ... the 19min finale "Möbius Slip" is excellent.

Of course , wasn't having a go at you. It must be very difficult to do any sort of rearranging and planning when everything is unknown. I wish you the very best if this difficult situation. It must be a lot harder for smaller promoters to manage.

I mean MCD rescheduled some shows for June.
I think that's extremely optimistic - I work with 4 people in Shanghai and have weekly video calls with them. They've been on lock down since the start of Jan, only allowed leave their houses once every two days, must be wearing masks, get provisions and go straight back home. Only yesterday they told me there's been a slight relaxing of measures, parks beginning to open and coffee shops. Nothing like concert venues etc.
We haven't had to go to full lock down (yet) but the idea of mass gatherings being allowed to happen again at a quicker rate than the China is unrealistic in my opinion.

No I was just wondering if the Nov date doesn't suit my shift cycle at work, can I get a refund from ticketmaster. The two previous dates suited me but the new date doesn't.
Yes, you're entitled to a refund as the new date doesn't suit you.

Looking forward to the new Steven Wilson album but with a little nervousness about what direction it'll take - based on "Permanating" from the last album , and the latest No-Man "Love You To Bits" album.

On the plus side of things, at least this thread should provide entertainment from now til May. Like watching a shitstorm in the distance getting closer and closer.
